Weird
Anything near it that could sting it?
Nope. It's pretty much by itself. There are two of these growing out between the large polyps. You can kinda make out the other one on the back left.

Tagging along that is bizarre like something from an old black and white horror flick
It is a bit creepy. And it's also very squishy. About the consistency of an anemone.

Its also a pretty good size
Absolutely. Around 3/4" to 1" around and it looks like it stretches down the host coral a few inches.

Are those coral polyps stuck in it or part of the blob you think? I’ve read about fungi in water that look like blobs but not with mouths like that if the purple polyps are part of it. I’d be putting a tight lid on that tank

Some kinda tunicate mine has spots, hairy, the mouths when I got it at first had tentacles, now mouths look like trumpets. Mine shrivels up when it senses light, vibrations. My thoughts

Now if it grows more polyps then it's something else you're on your own.
