Personally I use Jeboas cheaper and work well. Both pumps listed above are overkill, But allow for future upgrades if used on a manifold. They are controllable, probably only ever see 50% or less output. Unless you have reactors in mind I'd go with the vectra out of those two.

I’d consider a jebao DCP 8000. I’ve been reefing for almost 30 years and have tried lots of pumps. I’ve been impressed by this one.

I've used both and like both.
Both are dependable and very quiet.
Tough to pick between the 2.

I strongly suggest that you research Mobius and everybody's hatred for it before you buy an EcoTech product. I don't know if you need to use Mobius for this pump, but if you do then I would run away as fast as possible. You cannot probably find more than one sicko who really likes it... most live with it and many hate it and some cannot get it to work at all.

I’ve got the varios 6 for a 120. I’d love to give you feedback however I’ve been building this setup for 2+yrs. I’m sooooo close to getting it to and running though

Why do you need to run a return pump in a app?
Plumb the pump. Turn it on. Turn the dial until your desired rate is going.
I do hate Mobius.
I do use Vectras. Can't figure out why you would mess up a good pump with a crummy app.

^ I agree. This is why I always recommend Tunze 1073.40 or 1073.60 - Sicce has good equivalents too. Lower wattage, more power and decade reliable... and less money. Plug them in and go.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
