Schedule 80 has a better selection of fittings and valves. For aquarium purposes sch40 is fine but finding fittings is a lot harder especially higher end valves

I think this has been beaten to death but all socket fittings that are cpvc will work with pvc. You can use the good valves on regular pvc. 1.5” pvc is rated to 330psi. Good enough for me!!! I am doing a large build and going pvc for almost everything saved me about $120 compared to cpvc.

I regret using it for the reasons mentioned - hard to source and too expensive. Some of the quality ball valves are essential but not the pipe & fittings. I wanted the gray look but in a pinch I spray painted some sch40 elbows I couldn't find and they looked as good as or better than the sch80 gray pipe. If I were to do it all over again I'd probably go with the red pipe and white sch40 fittings.

Always used 40........as others have said, the 80 isn't needed for what we are using it for. On top of that, 40 is cheaper and sold locally.

Figuring out the why: Has your primary reason(s) for keeping a saltwater aquarium changed over time?
