I have a 280g tank and all I want is a bigger one? I ask myself is it gonna be that much better? What else can I really put in a bigger tank that I cant have now? Shark tank would be sweet but that is a long shot. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a psychologist in the house?

You can put a shark in a 280, as long as its 8'. But, can never go wrong with better. I have a 240g, and wished it was widernthan 24", I woukd think a 8'x36"x24" would be fantastic for fish and for coral, as you could actually leave swim room.

Mine is only 7' and its already a reef. Problem is I have a 18' wall in my man cave and only 7' of it is currently my reef tank. I have a giant fish room behind it too. I think it drives me crazy because all that open space has so much potential. Need to learn to be happy with what I have. :)

Please make it a racetrack shape if you intend to get a shark. It's much safer for them because if they hit a flat wall by mistake they can hemorrhage and die.

I hear ya on that. Probably a good idea to put the kids thru college before I fulfill a radom urge. Lol

Lol!

I recently received a lovely used 100g acrylic and as lovely and unrestrictive as bigger tanks are, this is as large as I'm going (assuming I don't win the lottery or something, in which case I could hire someone to do the heavier labor!)

I originally wanted a 125, but I really don't think an extra 25g is going to make that big of a difference.

AH, but it does make a difference. Isn't the 100g gallon only 5' long? I know the 125g is 6' long, thats a huge difference.

This has crossed my mine almost daily. Why cant we just be happy with what we have, just not our nature I guess. I started with a 54g, than a 120, 144, 180, and now in the process of going to a 300g, 72L-40W-24H. I went as far as digging out our crawl space to add a 8'X14' fishroom. I blame my wife for bringing home that first 54g!

I can only imagine how much fun it was to dig out a crawl space. Wouldnt want a lot of demo, just a bigger tank.

True enough, but most of the fish I'm considering are "rated" for about 90g or less, so they should be just fine, I think.
