Lights timed to perfection turn on.
It’s a glorious beginning of yet another dawn
This land-locked reef, a world between glass—
Full of color, motion, and creatures ever so vast
Stretches forth it’s beauty to yet plump polyp perfection en masse.

Lights dim down to the soft landing of night
The whirl-some fury of the frenzied day grows quiet.
Sweeping arms search secretly adrift in the flow.
Amongst the gray shadows’ dance
Movement never slows.

Chromatic bliss betrayed by a colorless creation
Soon to return Nature’s wonders amid full anticipation.

This is my reef tank.
This was a wallet that had cash.
I took a picture of the livestock I bought.
It's all I have left because the tank crashed.

Water sloshes from side to side
Blue sun beats down, relentless and timed
Rock grows from earth to meet the sky
And I'm watching it all, a world that's mine.

Well maybe not paid as I'm not home to ship I'm afraid.

Picked is the word I meant to say but alas it’s still morning and my brain is barely awake.

I’ll choose a winner later this day and then next week I’ll ship and someone will really get paid.

An ode to algae, with a line about ich...


Oh Algae, you’re so perplexing.

You’re just trying to do your job.

But if I do not knock you down,

other reefers think me a slob.



The system sure depends on you.

You take the nitrates out.

But if I do not check you,

my watchman goby pouts.



In fact I find you beautiful.

Your colors do abound.

Brown, green, yellow, purple, red.

However, I have found…



Once you take a foot hold,

and of course you do have many,

the next course about my action,

will be a lawnmower blenny!



Still I would have you many times.

You do not make fish sick.

If only it were just as easy,

to free my reef of ICH!!!

Although I'm not if it's a him or a her
I guess it's not important regardless of which
But it's been a great time to scratch the poetic itch
We've not had some fun while dropping some rhymes
It's really been fun I'll sure miss these times
I guess one more poem is going to drop
Or maybe a few more can be added on top
Let's keep rolling the fun words til @revhtree does tell
Until that great time the words flow from a well
Deep down inside of the poetic source
I'm talking about Webster's, no doubt but of course!
Just drop some more rhymes and throw words out for fun
