I have a sweet swag pack just waiting to be shipped,

It's comprised of t-shirts, stickers, and other stuff that's pretty reefing hip!

In order to get a chance to win you must come up with a rhyme,

But you better hurry though because fourteen days is the time.

So put down some inspirational lines about your reef,

And who knows you might just be crowned the R2R Lyric Chief!

I once had a great thought
And I figured I would give it a shot
Colors and corals and shrimp galore
I told the wife it would be nemo and more!
I bought and built and shaped and scaped
And alas I had my very own sea floor
The wife asked for the receipts with fright
I had to sleep on the couch that night

A lottery

Oh, geez
whoever decides the winner,
pick me please
My fish are laughing at me
‘Cause I wear the same cap, shorts, and tee
I know Santa is far from here,
but i will have a tear,
A tear of of laugher and joy,
From receiving the winning prize of toys
So if you read this with glee,
Don’t be salty; award me!

Algae ~~

Let’s admit it
You have it too

I need more nitrates
Less phosphates too

It’ll take some time
It looks like grime

When you think it’s done
It’s coming back for fun

When you want to quit
You just have to admit

that it’s all worth it in the end
:)

Once upon a time…

A little reef tank cost a lot of dime

I’ll just set back, watch and see

What develops for me

When hubby asks what is that

I won’t cough up how much scratch

He thinks the coral is grand

He’ll never know the lay of the land

The fish maybe funny but..

I’m not telling you honey

How much money

We both agree

It’s amazing what we see

Animals of all shapes and size

Definitely can mesmerize

This little tale must come to an end

Hopefully I didn’t offend..

~An Ode to a Solitary Coral~

In my tank is a coral from Australia
But what it cost, I won't tell ya'

It prefers low lighting
Not too keen on fighting

In terms of flow
It likes it low

Oh Cynarina
My little Thumbalina

Dose that bacteria
Don’t lose it to hysteria
Just algae after all
No need to take a fall

Nine one one
Driving that is just plain fun
In the rear view mirror
I can see clearer
All the dumb things I’ve acquired
Just because I’ve admired
Easier method now for me
As simple as can be

You ask for a rhyme about my reef,
All I have is a couple small tanks and grief.

Watching fish, impatiently in quarantine,
Now they know how it was in covid time.

Feeding, medicating and water changes,
Taking a toll on my patience as it feels like ages.

But one day, I ll be free to have a healthy reef,
Full of corals, fish and liverock reliefs.

Brief Bipolar Reef

In a manic frenzy
I jumped into the reef
Buying rocks from Florida
Corals from Staten Island
San Diego
the ammonia-stenchy
Local fish store

Obsessed and delighted
Occupied and happy
I watched my box of ocean
Thrive
I told myself that this time
I wouldn't
Abandon ship

When I got sad

A Glenner’sreef Anthology. You may need a tissue.

We cycled our tanks with Damsels and Clowns and piled live rock without care.
Yellow Tangs were dirt cheap at 15 a pop, and sps tanks were rare.

Testing our tanks was risky at best, as hydrometers failed, you see.
Between hypo salinity and the Great Salt Lake is where you wanted to be.

Hobbyists soon faded and REEFERS appeared in search for a better day.
Tanks would transform into living reefs as these REEFERS led the way.

But new LIGHTING and FILTRATION, LIVESTOCK and CORALS could not fully satisfy this group.
“We’re different they said” and “Bring us together”! After all “We call it detritus, not poop!

Just then the clouds parted over the reefs and a voice quietly said,
Hi, I’m Revhtree, Let’s all come together and share our journeys. Now if you don’t mind, I’m going back to bed.

See a box of water,
See a way of life,
With a lot of color,
With a lot of strife.

You don't understand,
This miniature sea,
What this reef is,
What it means to me.

Everyday is a painting,
Every night is a show,
All the coral performing,
All the tank is aglow.

This box gives me joy,
This box makes me whole,
It's a part of my life,
It's a part of my soul.

You guys and gals are very talented I see,
It sure bring me joy when I read all of these.
From glowing coral to colorful fish,
Mean green algae and disease and ich.
It's all part of the love, that we have for our reefs,
So keep the rhymes coming, please please please.
