Picked this guy up a couple weeks ago. Currently in a qt tank by himself with lots of plastic decor to hide. Kept the water clean for the first week then started ramping up copper, was at 1.6 yesterday.

Seems very skittish as the only fish in the tank and hard to get come out to eat but I have seem him dart out to take food occasionally. Seems to come out only after lights go out. I noticed a white banding behind his head, almost looks like maybe the scales rubbed off from rubbing so tightly to the plastic logs. Just making sure it's not an infection or something to treat. Sorry for the pics hard to get him out to take one

Looks like an infection and somewhat Common with ywgs.

I would discontinue copper and treat with antibiotics (metro-kanaplex-furan) . A ruby rally bath would be helpful before antibiotics.

When to mix up fish meal: When was the last time you tried a different brand of food for your reef?
