I wanted to see what your Alkalinity DKH target number was! I have seen so many different numbers and tanks that I wanted to see what you were shooting for. Some shoot for a lower number and other higher. Of course it's coral dependent but I have seen similarly stocked tanks with very different target goals.

Let us know what type of corals dominate your tank and also what DKH you're shooting for!

I keep my mixed reef at 8. It's just a number I picked that seems safe. Worst case drops to close to 7 or rises to around 9. Usually I never hit either of those numbers since I typically test 1-2 x a week and do a water change on the same day every week so it's more like 7.7 - 8.3, just from time to time I need to adjust dosing amount (BRS 2 part).

I don’t test any of my parameters (don’t kill me) but whatever the alk is at my reef that’s near my house is my alk as I use nsw from my lfs so each water change it probably is a little different. I will start testing in the next few weeks as I’m planning for sps. I have had my lfs check basics every little bit

I have a mixed reef tank and I slowly moved mine down from 9.6 to 8.0. I did this because I wanted to see how my acroporas would react. It took me about 3 weeks to get to 8.0 and I have noticed that my acroporas have better color since I did it. my level is steady at 8.0 so I am hoping that I have good success with these difficult acros. all other corals are doing good as well.

Mixed Reef, working my way to more sps. Steady maintained 8.6-8.8 with kalkwasser top off and water changes. So far so good. Brought up from 7.2-7.5 as I was running almost undetectable NO3 and PO4. Now that I'm maintaining 2-5 NO3 I slowly brought the Alk up.

What kind of forum newbie starts a poll thread without a poll? What is this? Amateur hour?

Well....lol

I thought about it but with the different tank types I would have had to have listed a ton of options!
