My YWG's fins are looking pretty bad. I first noticed the dorsal fin maybe two weeks ago and did not think much of it until I noticed the tail last week and it does not seem like it has gotten any worse. I've had it for about 4 weeks and it hid for almost two. It seems to have gotten a little fatter since I got it. It is eating great and does swim out of its cave to go after food. There are two clowns that are not showing any signs. Should I treat with MetroPlex and can this be treated in the tank or should I start a QT? TIA

Looks like someone is nipping it’s fin
Clown fishies and crabs are always suspects

I don't see anything treatable by metroplex. The fin damage sure looks like the clownfish have been tagging it, but I'm not sure how they could have gotten to its tail if it has been in a burrow/cave. Do you have a snapping shrimp in the tank? It may be a primary bacterial infection. In either case, moving it to a small treatment tank and dosing with antibiotics would be one course of action.

He has a tiger pistol as a roommate. The clowns never go it that area of the tank and the goby retreats into the burrow is a snail passes by. I had thought I read the metroplex was a treatment, would kanaplex be the best option once in QT?

Well, if it is paired well with the pistol, that shouldn't be a problem, but I have seen some issues recently with a pistol shrimp hitting a goby that wasn't paired with it.

Yes - Kanaplex or some other broad spectrum, gram negative antibiotic would be what I would suggest.
