Just listened to the latest Reef Builders podcast and heard the interviewer and David Saxby say how good this 2 part product is at raising pH. Any ideas what is in it that allows it rise the pH so much compared to normal 2 part solutions?

From a pH perspective, it cannot be better than my DIY recipes that use hydroxide. :)

think they are keeping it a secret

There is no secret recipe for a high pH two part, though they might possibly like you to think there is. I showed the exact pH effects of bicarbonate, carbonate, and hydroxide in a paper more than 20 years ago (linked below).

It is IMPOSSIBLE for any chemical to have a larger pH boost per unit of alk added than hydroxide.

Anyone who claims otherwise does not understand the chemistry involved.
