Has anyone seen a mushroom coral like this? It started as one giant one then split into about 5 smaller ones. I got one of the pieces that came off. But what type of mushroom is it?

wild guess i would say rhodactis mushroom if you are confident in that it is a mushroom.
The LFS says it’s a hairy or frilly mushroom. I asked if they could take a picture of the mother colony for me. Super confident it’s a mushroom, just haven’t seen any pictures that’s similar

Odd, fox coral was my initial guess:

But if you're sure it's a shroom, I agree with above, maybe rhodactis
This would have an exoskeleton correct? My coral has a foot attached to a piece of coral the same way a mushroom would.

definitely not a "hairy mushroom".
 

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
