Good morningGood morning everyone
A little late lol, but yesterday I fell knocked out on the couch lolwhat are your guys thoughts on siphoning sand? ive heard so many conflicting things. some say dont touch it and let your cuc clean it. others have said absolutely suction it because you need to clean all the yucky stuff out. im just wondering because its getting harder to clean the sand with all the corals. hate disturbing them everytime i clean
oh and i love horse shoe crabs! i need to get another one someday!
so sorry Rémi@smitten with ocean life the tank is doing ok except the coral growth. I sent 2 ICP ( tank and rodi) to know what is happening. I am assuming the flame hawkfish bullied my flame angelfish and he past away 2 days ago (big hit on me), the midas left his condo since so I add a tomini to put him on check (shy). The tank waking up
I stopped siphoning a long time ago. just needed it through some ugly fazes really. the sand gets churned enough in both tanks to keep it moving and things consumed.I didn't in my 15g, but when I took it down, the amount of gunk was unbelievable.
I'm not going to syphon my sand, but I'm going to get tons of CUC to help keep the sand clean, and I'll also turn it over every few days with some wooden stick or something.
my kids love it when I scratch make it. they say its the best. normally after I make it I fry it with butter till it slightly browns. didn't have the energy to do that this time.No way get outs here!
I think the uniqueness is a put a little nutmeg in it for flavor. one time I used the large hole press and the noodles were 1/2" thick, round and 6" long. it was pretty crazy looking.Spaetzle is one of my all time favorite things!
Ever.
nope. lots of sand and room to run. they hide mostly under the sand. I think they are picking off all the bristle worms under there. probably the cerith too.I've read older books that said they're hard to keep. Do you have to do anything special for them?
I think I read that they couldn't turn over on their own, is that true?nope. lots of sand and room to run. they hide mostly under the sand. I think they are picking off all the bristle worms under there. probably the cerith too.
I'd like to make a tide pool/touch tank set up with a bunch of stuff. could just use a preformed pond. so when they get bigger was thinking that with giant queen conchs. I'd like to get a giant acorn barnacle if I can ever find one. like a 3" oneI've seen them in the tide pools gigging for flounder, they were massive, well over a foot long with the tail spike. Of course the aquarium is a different story. Amazing animals
yes, I don't remember what the tortilla thing was. I did the race twice. it was created after the great earthquake to give the city hope and stuff to look forward too. but they would throw the tortillas like frisbees. every time you get hit with one just frisbee it back out.For reeeels?
they turn off they also swim. mine sometimes would swim to the surface.I think I read that they couldn't turn over on their own, is that true?
I went with hydros because I liked that most all units are standalone that can become linked into the collective. That said, hydros doesn't have a tester yet. The maven has been postponed for who knows how long. They haven't saidSo … my Trident took a long dive off a short bridge last week, I submitted for a Trident refurbished unit to be sent while they fixed up mine. It has been one week, no communication from Neptune, I sent them an email and they responded last night “ … we are experiencing a parts shortage. Please be patient we will send you the unit when we have parts and in the order they are received…”
That is a terrible answer! Don’t offer the chance of having a refurbished unit act as the temporary fixture IF YOU DON’T HAVE ANY TO SEND!
I like the automatic testers with the kids, it simplifies a process that, frankly, is easy to do but takes more time with my kiddos running around. Plus I don’t want them accidentally knocking over any of the vials with the massive staining reagents in them! Lol
This is making me consider Hydros, but I don’t think they are without their faults as well.
