Very nice Matthijs.
I'm positively jealous of it.:face-with-tongue:
Do you have an idea how old the clam is?

Hi Rie
No reasons to be jealous!
The clam has been in captivity for more than 10-15years.

An update,
Running since October 2022 on Modern Reef Reef Keeping System and I'm very pleased with the results :)

I compared some pictures to represent the growth rate of my acropora and I'm positively surprised

Very nice and especially fast progress, top Matthijs.
I have been able to admire your tank several times and time after time I see the tank and its inhabitants become larger and more deeply colored.
Modern Reef clearly does what they claim.
On the right track !!! ;)

Hi, can you elaborate more on the difficulties you had early on relating to rock. My tank has been very slow to mature after starting it 2 years ago with 300 pounds of dry rock. The ecosystem still seems very fragile.

It just didn't mature well, for me this is related to the fact biodiversity was not able to grow and thrive as it should be able to.
This leads to multiple issue's as swinging nutrients, pests taking over and being unable (for me) to make Acropora and more sensitive LPS thrive in the tank making them suffer for the smallest mistake you make.
I felt the tank never looked healthy and I took the decission to start over with liverock. The only thing I regret is why I didn't do that earlier as I lost a lot of (rare and expensive) corals because in my belief it would work out well after some time, what unfortunately wasn't the case.

Matthijs

Thanks Rie for the kind words
The tank is still not where I want it to be but I'm slowly getting there and Modern Reef is doing it's thing for sure!

Your tank is looking amazing!
Thanks! Getting quiet satisfied by the overall look of the tank

Great progress since the last time I saw your tank live. Beautiful tank.

Congratulations Matthijs.

Thanks Rie, the frags are indeed growing out into colonies making the tank look more and more like a natural reef

Grtz,
Matthijs

Great tank
Thanks!

Wow, that is some explosive growth!
And I allready trimmed it multiple times, never had so much growth as I had the last 1,5year

How is the tank built into the wall? Plywood?
I used Ytong building blocks and concrete lintel to evenly distribute the weight, for finishing I used water resistant MDF. You,can find some pictures on the first page of my diary.

Grtz,
Matthijs
