easily mounts to a rimmed tank and has an appealing setup.I swear I'm gonna get better at posting these...
DAILY QUESTION: What’s the most important feature you look for in an LED light for your reef tank?
Mixed reef. I describe it as the perfect glass cage biome.DAILY QUESTION: What kind of reef are you currently running? How would you describe it?
I’ve always run lps dominant mixed reefs. My new venture is going to be a little different. Downsizing into a 20 long AOI that will have bubblegum Digitata and Milka stylos front and center, at least at the start. It will also have 2 small black widow BTA and a somewhat larger Sherman BTA as well. 2 clowns and 2-3 other small nano fish as well.DAILY QUESTION: What kind of reef are you currently running? How would you describe it?
I had 2 small frags of the same Goni x2, one being a red glitter tip and the other duo being green/yellow. Grew both from that into 3-4 inch+ balls.DAILY QUESTION: What’s the best coral growth success story you’ve had?
I wish it was more easily controlled without having to buy separate things. I have a Kessil a360WE and I love this little pendant so much. However I’d have to buy a new controller to do any sort of ramping up or down. Currently have it on a Roku plug.DAILY QUESTION: What’s one feature you wish your current reef lights had? OR if your current lighting ticks all the boxes, what's your favorite feature?
I've had plenty of algae issues over the years but I wouldn't blame any of them on the lights. I've solved the issues in various ways, the whole gambit of waiting it out, turning down red and green channels, not feeding, overfeeding, herbivores, nuking the tank with Flux RX or Algaefix, all the way to tearing down the tank and leave the hobby for a while. The best overall strategy for me seems to be balanced inputs, good selection of herbivores, lights toward the blue side and encouraging algae growth in a fuge. I still get a lot of algae but most of it isn't in the display.DAILY QUESTION: Have you ever experienced issues with algae growth due to lighting, and how did you solve them?
In the past I have had some algae growth that I originally attributed to my MH lighting but I now think it was a mix of possible poor spectrum, "hot" water, and nutrient imbalance.DAILY QUESTION: Have you ever experienced issues with algae growth due to lighting, and how did you solve them?
Yes i have. I had my white light turned up too high and it was a newer tank at the time. I lowered my white accordingly and dosed H2O2.In the past I have had some algae growth that I originally attributed to my MH lighting but I now think it was a mix of possible poor spectrum, "hot" water, and nutrient imbalance.
