PVC "gate" should be cut like this:

Sanded down to fit snugly into the T, but also if the T has end stops, those should be sanded off.

Nice, going to be another week before I start this. Just also letting you know that I’m just using a normal pump that I had lying around from an old pump. It’s a good pump with adjustable flow rates, but it’s not a needle wheel one or anything like that that I’ve been seeing on other skimmers.

Upon looking athis further, you might not need the T. I think this might control the air going in (which would impact internal water height)....wish I had the specs on this skimmer.....

Needle wheels are not 100% not needed. Just make sure your venturi works.
Okay nice. I’ll be home tomorrow so I’ll take some more pictures of it then. I does the water go through the pump first ? Also is there any attachment like an air pump or anything needed for the Venturi? Thanks a mill this is some pretty god tier advice haha full credit to you if it works out!

what model bubble magus is this? maybe I can download a manualAs I said I bought it all with an older tank coming up to 7 years ago now. It was second hand so no idea how old it was then. There was a pump with it which I couldn’t get going and then disposed of.

You remember that little bump thing as discussed earlier, thats your venturi port. Connect some approperiatly sized tubing, maybe 12 in", make sure it always stays above the water line, otherwise there is a risk of overflowing when skimmer not on.....anyway, not airstone needed. Water goes in as per your original drawing.

Here is how a Venturi works ( in a nutshell)

so what happens is that air will get sucked in through the small "tube" and get forced out with the water. This is a post pump version (not as efficient in small bubble creation) . The newer version/style is pre-pump, mixed in with the needle wheel and then pumped out. Highly efficient in small, denser bubbles.

Nice. I get it now. I presume I don’t have to have the water pump actually in the tank and could just have it hooked up to an intake?
Can’t wait to get this up and running, hoping it’ll help in the battle against this GHA!

pump location is not important, but you will lose head velocity pressure (depending on pump specs).....best to have the pump as close to the venturi as possible.

Perfect will do. I think I’ll have intake running straight to pump which I’ll situate right next to Venturi. It’s a “Blau Reef Motion 4KDC (4000 l/h 3,2m 35w)” so should be definitely powerful enough. I imagine I won’t have it near full power at all.

Yeah.....that pumps a little overkill for what you are trying to do.......
buy a used danner or even a MJ-1200......something that pumps 600/800 gph range
