I have alot of sps but no big colonies. I agree with sps having high demand. I would look into also dosing kalk. You’ll save alot.

can you add a very small amount without having the concerns of having a stirrer and not gumming up your pump?

I do it with no problems… I add 3tsps to my 5 gallon ATO reservoir and that seems to keep things stable for me. I average 1/2 gal of evaporation a day. My tank is newer so the majority of my consumption at this point is coralline algae. As I get more SPS I’ll add more. Since the solution isn’t saturated I think it would be fine.
The pump gets a little chalky but I soak it in citric acid every once in a while and it cleans right up.

Why not just use more AFR to maintain alk?

I think I should. When I started the addition of Balling B my Calcium was 440 on my Hanna Checker, and my alkalinity dropped below 8.

I'm at 94 ml a day plus just under a gal of max saturated kalk a day in a 75 gallon tank. Going up about 5 ml a month avg. Mixed reef. But I have several 15+ inch acro colonies, and a sitosa that's over 20 inches long. Might need to trim a bit... lol

Just a single ml per day right now. Fluval evo 13.5 acans, duncan, chalice, gonis, zoas and blastos. Getting really great growth since I started it up!
