I recently purchased a new Bashsea ss-60 sump and the sock holder baffle was done very sloppy and had voids along the bottom. I’m being told the glue job is normal because they can not reach that baffle area once placed but not only does it look horrible but most of it is voided so water will pass right under the baffle. Anyone else have or see problems like this with Bashsea?

Wow! I am sorry that you are dealing with that. I do not have a Bashsea sump (I have Reef Octo 36 and I am very pleased), but I have been staring at the Bashsea sumps at several shows a year for years (I always make a point to spend some time in their booth looking at the sumps) and there sumps always appear to have strong craftsmanship and be high quality. Hopefully if you reach out to them they will be able to help. Good luck with the process!

Reached out yesterday waiting to hear more from them as yesterday we never reached to a conclusion. They said it would be an easy fix but I feel like this should have never left to get shipped out. One the runs of glue look horrible and two the voids along the seam. Feel like what you have to fork out for these things you shouldn’t have to fix anything.

I wrote off Bashsea after a sump 36 inch Brand new BIOFUGE leaked and flooded my home and the baffles WERE NOT FULLY GLUED IN WHEN I RECIEVED IT! I had Thankfully bought it thru PREMIUM AQUATICS who immediately issued a FULL REFUND! Trigger sumps MUCH BETTER IN MY OPINION!

Sorry to hear that. I also purchased through premium aquatics also. Was waiting for Steve from Bashsea to respond to my email between me and premium aquatics.

I thought acrylic was supposed to be welded- that almost looks like a silicone seal.

It's my understanding the 2 pieces need to have contact with each other to weld properly.

If it is a silicone seal, you'll need to remove the silicone in there, and then reseal it. Which, on a new sump, you shouldn't have to finish making it for them!

I’ve purchased a custom and an off the shelf Bashsea sump. The custom one was absolutely flawless, the off the shelf one had some substandard glue seams. Not quite as bad as yours but same. What bugged me more is that every panel had the paper still on and it legit took me hours to peel it all off.

That is true! They are very careful to avoid scratches when they are getting their product to the customer. In contrast, I bought another sump (not my OCTO) that came scratched so I wish they would have used paper!

Interesting point about the difference between their custom and off-the-shelf sumps. Good feedback.

Interesting feedback. My perception from seeing the Bashsea and the Trigger at many shows is that the Bashsea is notably higher quality.

I agree to this. Bashsea I seen was much higher quality as I was replacing my cheap thin walled Trigger. Bashsea uses much thicker acrylic.

Sure is was expecting something better than this. Maybe no quality control or care??? Was kind of worried ordering this as it was because there is lack of reviews and info out there on these sumps.

Wow. That's both surprising and frustrating.

On a side note: It has been a while since I have seen you. I hope that you and your family are doing well.

I felt the same way. Not much info on people giving reviews on them so I took the plunge and purchased. I have seen them at a couple shows and again there show pieces of course were awesome. What I received wasn’t even close. I don’t like battling with the vendors with returns so I just said F it and installed it.

I bought a trigger sump, no complaints. Well made, packaged well, seams all looked good.

I bought a large Bashea reactor. All the O-rings came cracked and dry. Thing leaks like a siv, looking for replacement o-ring set.
