I have two of these. One on the tank which can my return, powerheads, cameras and Apex and automatically comes on when the power goes out. I also have a second one on my internet/wifi equipment so I can still monitor things remotely if the power is out. This gives me time to keep things running while I fire up my generator if power outage is long term.
How long will it keep the power on your devices ?

I see what’s happening the forum is turning the word Amazon into a hyperlink to Amazon

That’s not the link. It’s just the forum sending to an affiliate site because it recognizes the name
Yeah I found the listing on Amazon, would be interesting to know what battery tech its actually using, I prefer LiFePo4 over Lion.

Not long. And this is why I post the models I do. Please nobody spend 315$ on this

This will work for very short periods of time but you can do so much better. I get 40 hours out of a 300$ LiFePO4 station

Yeah thats traditonal UPS with sla batteries they work but just do not provide long runtimes and I do not believe being sla the batteries will last as long.
True - not intended for long term but to keep things running short term. My setup will run for hours as long as I'm not running a heater. Generator is long term solution for me. Manufacturer on UPS claims battery life of 3 to 6 years. The batteries are also replaceable without having to replace the entire UPS.

I've never run it down completely, but I think last time it kicked on, with just pump and power heads running, the estimated run time on the display was around 1 hour. If I didn't run the return pump, it would go even longer. Plenty of time to get the generator fired up. The one on my wifi hardly draws any power - basically just the router, so it would last a lot longer.

So looking at this...

Anker uses LFP battery

SeaDevil uses Li-Ion battery

but.. LFP is a type of Li-ion?

makes my head spin...
ok so all my stations are LiFePO4 except the seadevil’s. Which are larger capacity, still lithium, but different.

But reading a article about the difference…what stood out is they are both directly compatible and you can replace lithium cells with lifepo4.

So maybe, a few years from now, probably at least 5, if the lithium runtime degrades, by then the lifepo4 prices will probably drop and we can upgrade the SeeDevil to lifepo4 and get another 10+ years out of it

I think the lifepo4 is actually cheaper to make but china has a monopoly on them? and that is why they cost more? That is what I gathered

Yes sounds that way

For lifepo4 I would recommend this sale which has a 150$ solar panel included basically for free

I use this on my 75g reef dc return pump, it gives almost 40 hours runtime with ups, and the station is normally 370 alone, on sale for 350 with the 150$ panel included

I don’t use it for long outages. That’s what a generator is for. My generator plugs into my house panel and runs all necessary devices in my home and I can run it with propane, natural gas, or gasoline. I guess we all use what works best for us. You do you.

What if you aren’t home or an outage happens while you are asleep and you don’t realize it

For 315 your model lasts an hour or two
Your batteries age also and degrade each year, with a life span of approx 5, whether you use them or not

For 350 mine lasts 37 hours
The batteries last 10+ years and retain 80-85% capacity

I had a ups like yours. It was around the same price. It hardly ever was needed for an outage. When I had an outage 4 years after I bought it, the runtime was 11 minutes. It said 60, but each minute flashed by in seconds. It was 300$ and barely ever used and provided 11 minutes.

You can do you all you want but for the money there are much better products to suggest to people here that will run longer and last longer

I don’t see myself using a solar panel. If it got that bad, I’m getting a generator. I don’t live in a hurricane area though where tons of people would want a generator at once.

I suppose now that I say that we will get the ice storm of the century or something.

Probably just get the anker and/or the ecoflow and call it a day since they are well regarded.

The last time I lost power for 24 hours, I manually kept the water aerated with only one loss which may have been the tank getting low 60s.

It really sucks to set your alarm and get up every hour all night long though.

Especially when it’s during a blizzard with no heat and it might as well feel like knives getting out from under the covers.

Spent about $200 on a UPS at Best Buy. Works great will run the tank for about 8 hours without the chiller. A tank controller helps because it can turn off things when the power is gone leaving only mission critical water flow.

I dont know what you are talking about with that link. I’m fully familiar with diy route but prefer a all in one product for a clean look. and the prices have been coming down over the last few years where diy advantage is not as significant as it was a few years ago.

Your link to the Bluetti is a 2000 wh unit for a sale price of $1100

I posted and recommended a 2132 wh unit for $600

I dont know what you are talking about is a common phrase that can go away. You did.

For 600 use can get 150 aH of virgin lead deep cycle batteries and a few relay switches and have a much more powerful system. Only reason to spend on an all in one is you can not wire a relay.

@VintageReefer so are you saying to get this one now instead of the Seedevil?

They are both good in their own ways it just depends what you want.

Maximum runtime - the SeeDevil 1000 or 2000

If you are ok with less runtime but solar panels + more years from the unit itself then get the big blue. I run this one on my reef, 39 hours of run time is good for me, but your equipment is different than mine and might pull more or less power.

OK

Batteries that degrade year after year while waiting to do their job - can’t be run to zero, take up 2-3x the space, take tons of time to charge, need their own charger / inverter, ups, relays, wiring

I’d prefer to put one of these on the ground and plug it in to a wall and plug my tank into it and call it a day…the small ones will run 35-40 hours, the biggest can run my filtration and provide flow and oxygenation for 150 hours

To each his own. What does your lead acid setup look like? Is it living room friendly? Or does it look like a science project with a bank of car batteries and wires and relays clicking on and off

I didn’t. I was told that more powerful systems would be cheaper and blow it away. And linked was a system with similar (but less capacity) for double the price.

Then a video was posted to one that was similar price, but half the capacity.

So, my “common phrase” was meant literally. I didn’t see proof of the claims

Suggest you reread the convo, seems you missed some key details
