Hello all. Just got my first bubble tip anemone and it went on a walk overnight under a rock and hasn’t been out into the light in 2 days. Just wondering if that’s okay. Also here’s a video of him once a day he seems to get real small and then he goes back to normal within an hour or two. Usually happens from 11-1ish Am

It's not unusual for anemones to go on walks, especially when they are new to their tanks. If they don't like where they are, they'll scoot on somewhere else.

I can't see your video, but based on your description of the behavior, it sounds like it may be "relieving itself." :) The first time my anemone expelled waste, I thought it was a goner. However, once a day sounds like a little much. Mine does this 1-2 times per week, if that.

In general, as long as the foot is holding and the anemone is not free-floating around the tank, that's a sign that all is well.

Ours currently is going from the back of the tank to the front of the tank and I think nothing of it. Anemones will do what they want to do. (whether its being on the top of your tank one day and the next day its in the very back)

For anyone who can't view the video. Its under an overhang on the rock arch. Pretty typical to adjusting the flow or light. Foot looks strong which is always a good sign.

If your lucky like many of us. Where you place them is where they wanted to go anyway lol.

As long as you don't see it laying in the sand, leave it alone and let it find its spot. Just move corals out of its way if possible.
