More of a curiosity than anything. Been reading about "reef safe-er" angels, and Biota's Multibar Angels is described as such. However, a bit of research on them pulls up astounding lack of success keeping wild caught ones.

Have the CB multibars been more successful long-term? And anyone kept them have comments on them being "reef safe-er"? Thanks!

I have had one a few years now, can’t comment on reef safeness as I put it in a grow out tank.

They are tiny and needs lots of food and can easily die if their constant food needs are not met in some way when tiny. They can not handle copper or disease when that tiny at all.

This means feeding several times a day or having lots of pods and microfauna to forage on. They have 0 reserves at this age and can not miss meals.

They will need tiny food, crushed pellets, PE Calanus, fresh hatched baby brine, etc. They can sometimes be picky about pellets at first so you may need to try more than one brand.

They can be easily bullied or simply not get enough food if you have a lot of hungry active fish.

Once they are larger, they are easy keepers but they grow very slow. I grew mine in a 25g for two years before moving to a 150g. Fish is still small but feisty and certainly semi aggressive now. It tries to tail slap other fish and gets nipped on the tail for its annoying behavior..

Also even as tiny babies, they tend to scrap/fight/be ticked so trying multiple can be an issue unless you have a large tank with lots of hiding spaces.
