I had 12 open days and invited to over 15 parties. Wish there were rain checks.
Do what I do -- stop going to a few parties and over time, they stop inviting! Yes, our family is a party pooper but we've been partying every single weekend (sometimes 2-3x) this year so it's so jaded. Less is more as I grow older (and sometimes wiser).

I just want to be left alone this Christmas! Seriously... I'm very thankful for good health, loving family, wonderful & supportive friends/network, fun job, more! The best gift anyone can give me -- it's peace & tranquility this season... :)

I have to ask, what is the best thing you eat during Christmas?
You didn't ask me, but ... Well, here we go :)

First meal was prime tenderloin roasts with rustic mashed red taters, broccolini, and a white chocolate cheesecake.

Meal #2, coming this saturday, will be crab cakes, crab cakes, and more crab cakes, and a lemon ginger basque cheesecake.

Meal #3, xmas Eve, will be seared scallops over mushroom risotto, and as of now and unknown dessert.

My wife and I love to cook :)

Mmmmm Crab Cakes. That and a nice blackened shrimp pasta are probably my favorite seafood dishes

After having kids, I ramped up Christmas to the max. LOL. My home is decked out inside and outside. We drive around to different neighborhoods to check out other people's lights. I host a Christmas party every year with friends and their kids. Secret Santa for the kids and White Elephant for the parents. We usually do some charity work to give back to community or other families. Just a great time to share, be merry and kind...and enjoy time with your family and friends. My daughter still writes to Santa, and we still deliver her mail to Santa at the North Pole. For those with younger kids, the US post service has a great program.

Oh, and I do splurge a bit on some reefing stuff and corals.

I do wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

As a chef, it's a crazy busy time.
Lots of 17 hour days observing others enjoying themselves.
It makes me appreciate the simple things when work closes down after I've sent my last meal out on Xmas day & I love a hot bath, a cheeseboard & a few non alcoholic beers in front of an old hitchcock movie with the wife & of course the tanks, then family visits boxing day and further relaxation.
Nothing flashy just quality time works for me :)

I live in Vermont so...insert made up Hallmark village name and that is my experience. The last few years my wife and I try to have a "Hallmark" day/weekend to do short trips for Christmas band music, Vermont Country Store, travel for light displays, pick up the tree.

Last weekend we went to Wassail Weekend in Woodstock, VT, too many things to do, but got to see what it was all about.

Our parents are in separate states so we see hers up here and travel to see mine around New Year's.
