It would make more sense if they changed the ban to all live vertebrates if they're still going to allow the selling of inverts and coral. I feel like Morphmarket, R2R and that ReefnBid site are probably better vending options anyway being specifically designed for this but I've obtained at least half of my corals from my local reefing community.

To me banning 'live vertebrate animals' makes more sense - unless you are very elderly or went to a super weird school everyone who is an adult should know what a vertebrate is because the difference between vertebrates and invertebrates is pretty much the most basic fact in biology.

Vertebrate = animal with a backbone
Invertebrate = no backbone (or even bones, really,) present
Are you expecting the people that are paid probably some kind of minimum wage to sit there and do nothing but click yes/no for removing listings and spend a few seconds per listing, to know or care what a vertebrate is? Or remember if they are told?

AI is probably doing a lot of the lifting but there's still a human element at some point, and it's not going to be a high paid manager

Explicitly name or not, I think people selling corals have been warned, no?

Corals, by there very definition are animals.

The policy says clearly names what can be sold and indicated anything not on that list can't be sold. Old vs new policy does not matter - their interpretation of their own policy is all that does.
I'm selling zooxanthellae, and other non-toxic microbes inside a FREE! ALL-natural wrapper. Freshness may or may not be guaranteed?

I don't expect much to change in the near term.

I didn't read through the whole tread so idk if anyone mention Aquabid for coral auctions. They have a section there for corals but I never seen anything on there.

That was how I got my wife! Of coarse I remember.

Can we gift Aiptasia for purchase of shipping?

I wonder how eBay decided to make this change, and what motivates them to do so? Do they really care about "animals" or do they just hate Homo sapians?

Save the planet, use ReefNBid. :face-blowing-a-kiss:

I just dono.
Ebay has been banning the sale of more than just live animals. Just recently they stopped allowing Ebikes to be sold on there too.

I have seen a lot of reactive concern to items with Lithium batteries. I would not mail any unless I planned for them to explode and burn on arrival. :face-blowing-a-kiss: :face-with-hand-over-mouth:

I think the liability and the deep pockets at eBay will cause them to forbid them on paper at least to protect their site from legal attacks after disaster strikes.

Why do disasters always “Strike?”
They have a strong Union, and work closely with the court systems? :thinking-face:

So when will R2R ban selling of livestock? Well — final blow will be when all the carriers like UPS, USPS, FedEx ban “animal” / livestock transports? That will kill many online coral farmers instantly!

Betcha LFS around the world are lobbying for that? lol

Anyway — let’s hope not.
If LFS did that, they couldn't get anything in to sell.
