Long story short I've decided not to upgrade to a bigger 40g. Was going to get new lights, etc. Happy with what I have!

I feel like I have the "best" equipment except for lighting. Using an AI Prime 16HD, mounted 8" @ 50% (~150 par in middle and 75 on edges). I hate the mount. Question is should I upgrade to a G6 XR15 Blue with their rail setup or stick with the AI Prime, using a new HMS rail.

Would the G6 create a noticeable difference in color rendition and fluorescence to make the upgrade worth it? LPS system, won't be adding SPS

Length = 18.4″, Width = 11.3″, Height = 12.5"

Thanks!

Decided to take the dive and bought the g6 blue with standard arm. MUCH better light than AI Prime, torches have never been this extended and new colors in Acans. No hotspots and the arm has everything level. Mobius was a pain the first few days but seems to be sorted. For anyone else considering switching personally very happy with switch

I mean, does it surprise anyone that a 95w, $530 light with 50 LEDs is "better" than a 54w, $260 light with 16 LEDs?
I wasn't expecting such a big difference. $260 for a light is still no joke (it's overpriced!)

I hate my prime 16hd. I personally think it’s junk and I’m not impressed with the spectrum no matter what combination i try.

Glad to hear you like the g6! You went with a xr15 I assume?

40% but will likely go to 50%. This gives me around 100 par
I have a Red Sea cube so 17.7x17.7x16.5 and I’ve had my Radion at 35%. I don’t have access to a par meter so I just kind of guessed and set it here. Im wondering if I should increase slightly if you are running 40% in a shallower tank.

Yes, an XR15. I will say the AI app is much better than Mobius, even though they have the same app creator.

I am having an issue where the Radion is turning off early. Trying to find out if its a Mobius issue or hardware...

I can post my PAR readings soon. I got the diffuser coming later in the week. Running blue only my 6" frag rack was averaging 110-115par @ 50% (if I remember correctly, will confirm)

Have you had any issues with the ramp down? I'm wondering if its due to me having a starting low intensity and a long ramp down (non-hour)

The light does turn off a tad early and the very end of the ramp down. I’d say a few minutes at most. Hasn’t been an issue though.

I am using the diffuser and I absolutely love how blended the light is. Very slight shimmer with absolutely zero “disco” effect. Looks like T5 with shimmer

THANK YOU! I don't know why they are saying it could be hardware when ramp up is fine. Mobius seems to turn off the lights when they reach 2% intensity. Depending on ramp down length this could be a minute early, to a few minutes, to 10 minutes.
How long is your ramp down time @ 35%?

Do you have a g6 blue as well? What color spectrum are you running?

I'm checking PAR now

I also had time drift in the first 2 days, found out it was the "feed mode" scene that causes it after noticing "verifying settings" kept going bad shortly after verifying. After I removed the scene no more time drifting. Mobius is terrible.

Was in the same boat for my 20g knowing that being upgraded to a 40 cube at some point therefore went with the G6 Pro not being a fan of all blue and prefer that old school halide or VHO. No regrets and Möbius only been an issue once. Knock on wood

I have a 2hr ramp both up and down with schedule intensity at 35%. All channels at 100 except red, green at 15 and ww at 50. But yeah it goes black a few minutes early, I just assumed the leds go off at say 1 or 2% but I don’t know. Mobius has been mostly fine for me, sometimes it doesn’t want to connect but it’s not all the time. I restart the app and it’s fine.

Also, mine is a G6 Pro. I like a whiter spectrum so I didn’t do the blue.

When you say right under light would you say it’s directly under water surface? Or a few inches down?
