Tldr, I will dose peroxide and document it.

The 15 aio seems to be having a gha problem, and from what I've read it may have to do with the Caribsea dry rock that was used.

Parameters posted below. I've tried daily scrubbing and pulling. I have astrea, florida/Dwarf ceriths, bumblebee, and nassarius. I bought the 30 gallon package from reef cleaners, so double of what's needed. I have a lawnmower blenny, that does go after it as well. No shrimp. Yes to coral. But overall it keeps coming back.

After many recommendations and reading, I decided to dose hydrogen peroxide, H2O2, just below the 1mL/10gal at 1mL for the whole 15 Gallon tank, for a 7 day course. Depending on results, I may go out to 10 days at the reduced dosage.

I will be dosing after lights out.

I will remove the chaeto right before dosing, for about 8 hours, and put it back in the morning to prevent the H2O2 from killing it as well. (Read mixed reviews on macro surviving.)

Started on 12/24/24.

I was experimenting with stopping AFR which is why the Alk, Mg, and Calc dropped a little. I have started dosing back up since then.

I did this protocoal on an established 120G display and decimated amphipods & copepods. While it discouraged GHA, it did not stop its return.

Consider combining uv sterilization to eliminate spores of GHA.

I've read mixed reviews about pods. Between a lower dose, and removing chaeto, I hope some survive. But I also have the algea barn galaxy pack coming next month.

“The 15 aio seems to be having a gha problem, and from what I've read it may have to do with the Caribsea dry rock that was used.“

Instead of sanitizing tank with peroxide, consider bringing in biodiversity of micro fauna & fana as consumers & competitors of GHA in the form of diver collected live rock.

Whatever you do, please post bright white light pictures, please, so we can see the results. I can't even see the gha in the picture you posted.

I had seeded with live rock from the beginning, which is the only rock with out gha and monthly with pods.

There seems to be a lot of there about that rock in particular.

Good luck! It works, but in my experience it only works to stop it from increasing/spreading and to prevent it. Sadly never managed to reduce/remove my algae with it. Have you tried a UV?

In perusing your thread titles, I see that you have multiple tanks started. Is the link above the same tank with peroxide dosing?

Instead of dosing peroxide in bulk water, consider spot treating rock with a toothbrush soaked in peroxide. Or remove infested rock from tank and soak for 10 minutes in a 10% solution of 3% peroxide.

I got a uv stabilizer on my tank and didn't see results right away but 6 months later tank is looking good

No, have not tried uv. I just want to get it down enough so the cuc can handle it.

Just one

The other is not built.

But the rock is all puttied together. I have used toothbrush and it works but still leaves behind some.

“But the rock is all puttied together“

So all your rock is cemented together.

After 25 years with same rock, I move it around and swap rocks between tanks.

Also, I have some GHA that is a refugium for pods. I see little point in removing it.

Viva La difference.

Yep, in my 15 I was not taking a chance with it falling or moving. Bigger tanks in the past, was not an issue.

When you say you did this protocol can you give specifics? How much did you dose? How long did you do it? What time of day did you dose?

In the end no peroxide will not stop the return of GHA. Only having your nutrients in check and the proper nutrient export will you control GHA.

When lights went off, I dosed 12 ml of 3% peroxide into 5 year mature 120G display with 40G cryptic refugium. After 7 days, I no longer observed amphipods in display or refugium.

PS. You used the magic word: control.

I doubt that GHA can be eliminated in a mature tank without severe consequences to biodiversity.

Sterile in a hospital operating room is good, but not in a reef tank.
