It only spreads for the most part - unless there are other corals to block it with warefar. I had a large piece that kept growing downwards because the coral on either side would not allow it to grow - its simple to put it on an island though.

I really do like the looks of it, I'm torn if I'll have it in my new tank or not though

Three tanks all have some gsp. It the brightest color in the tank. You could say I like it :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

All of it in those tanks came from this one when I tore it down

I have a wall of gsp in my tank and I like the way that it looks, but I likely wouldn’t put it in a tank anymore.
I don’t regret having it, but I suspect at some point I’m going to.

i have my whole back glass covered in it and it really gives a sense of depth. I love it. But every week I do have to cut off the excess that's starting to block off the overflow and growing on the wrong sides. And every now and then a bit goes into my wavemaker and gets cut into dust but I've never noticed any ill effects.

I had a softball sized rock covered with GSP and it looked great for months. It withered away and died for no apparent reason. I've tried twice since then with the same result, yet euphyllia, duncans, mushrooms, zoas, etc. all do very well in my tank.
It was the only coral I could grow with my cheap petco lights way back when I had my first fiasco of a reef tank
