Whatever it is it’s a frog fish of some sorts. Likely a rare species and would need at least a 40 breeder.

How big is your tank? What’s in it?
They are predators with a huge mouth, so most smaller fish won’t stand a chance.
They are best as the only thing in the tank.

Depends on the size of fish, the old adage was 1" of fish per gallon. I'll probably be told that has changed though. What type of fish do you want?

I already have a red tailed platy and a guppy in there now, I had another guppy in their, but it died today .
should I get another red tailed platy? or is that to much? Should I not get any more fish for the tank?

I have 3 guppies and 3 mosquitofish fry in my my 5.5 gallon along with lots of pond snails and a cherry shrimp.
I wouldn’t add more than 5-6 guppies to that size tank. Since platies are larger, I would count them as 2 guppies. I would say keep the platy and guppy, and try again with the guppies, about 2-3 more.
Research which strains of guppies have better survival rates, most are very inbred and weak.

Pretty sure that is still a safe guideline, as long as good judgement is used. Don’t put a 10 inch Oscar in a 20 gallon (or anything less than 100) and don’t put 55 neon tetras in a 55.

I always thought it would be fun and impressive to put a massive school of neons into a large tank.

I agree. It would be nice, my point is just that you don’t want to have too much, as then you would be overstocking.
Having 20-30 neons (or exodons ) in a 55 would look amazing though!

Hola Sophie! Tank is looking good. I'm looking for some Mollies for my salt water tank. Probably hit the Fish store tomorrow. Mollies can be introduced to salt water and they serve a few useful purposes, one being algae control.

Fish burial site! My 2 fish are buried in a match box covered in some decortave tape and buried under the dirt, we are putting the box in our garage!

Be sure to keep an eye on nitrite & nitrate levels, and if you manage to keep guppies in the long run have another tank ready for the babies. Guppies breed, and they breed fast.
