Ok, I have issues! Ha. Seriously though, there is no way for me to qt fish on my own with my eyesight and mobility issues. I had lost a couple fish over the years and just couldn’t deal with the stress of replacing or adding any. Asked for recs on pre qtd fish vendors and read all kinds of threads on them. I settled on @Dr. Reef.

They were great to deal with. Fish came in yesterday. One bag (flame hawkfish) had apparently leaked a little so I skipped the salinity acclimation process and got him right into an acclimation box. Everything else was fine. Thought there was a doa as a pajama cardinal was stuck in a corner of a bag and not moving but as soon as I got them in a bucket they were all swimming.

Had all the fish in a acc box overnight and most the morning. The Copperband was pretty impatient in the box so I decided to let them all loose. So far all is well in the verse. The Copperband is picking at rocks all over and checking everything out.

I was pretty nervous about introducing something like velvet but I’m feeling pretty confident today. Hopefully these guys all like their new crib!

Edit. I never name my fish but my mom thought the flame hawk looked like Elvis with the black stripe….thus he shall be called Elvis

That copperband is absolutely stunning. one of my favorites for sure!
I’ve always wanted one. To be honest though I can’t really see him. Maybe when he gets bigger. I thought the bright copper and pearl white would stand out a little more. I can’t see the pajamas either. The flame hawk and flame angel are super bright but not out and about as they’re getting used to the hierarchy. Had someone looking all over for the hawk as he was nowhere to be found. He’s hanging up on the gyre magnet at the top of the tank, where one wouldn’t be looking.

Awesome! Dr reef is the man. Have a bunch of tangs coming next week. My tank is exclusively from them.
Nice. He seems to really care and the way he’s responded to issues in other threads is what sold me. The other highly recd option was fishotel but the order process wasn’t my jam.

I was also extremely leery about getting a Copperband since I can’t verify that it’s eating on my own. I’m still nervous, not gonna lie. As soon as he was let free to roam he started picking at rocks. He’s been picking at rocks all day long. I’m guessing he’s finding something to eat. I tried lrs reef frenzy and pe frozen mysis but he could care less and just kept picking at rocks.

Love that acclimation box!
Man, people want crazy cheddar for these things! This one is from reefingart.com and pretty budget friendly. They have super cheapos on amazon but people said they were held together with rubber bands and would fall apart. This one hangs on 3/4 glass and has suction cups to keep it from blowing around. They have magnetic ones but not for 3/4 glass. I’ll be honest, I wasn’t a fan of peeling the protective film off this thing. It was a major pita for me and I missed a lot and had to get help.

I have to applaud you. This endeavor is difficult enough with full eyesight. Or at least I have difficulties. I am impressed you can make it work. Again, what you do is impressive.
Thanks! Full disclosure, I was a tech dweeboid and had everything automated (for the most part) prior to my health issues. That saved my bacon. I’m happy to have a few more fish finally as it’s been pretty lightly stocked for a few years. I have made a few changes along the way to help me out though.
