Welcome to Reef2Reef!

To me, those numbers don't look too far out of whack, especially if you're getting everything through a local shop.

I think you may have some options, if you haven't purchased this yet, but if this appeals to you and is affordable, it's not a "bad" deal, in my humble option.

I'm sure others will be along to share their opinions shortly :)

Good luck with whatever you choose!

IMO…the heater is aqua top which I feel is a entry level junk brand and the lights are fine for fish only but if you want coral they will only handle the easiest most basic low demand corals. I would not spend $500 on those

You didn't get taken if that's what your asking. Would I have gone with some different choices. Yes. I don't see an rodi what's your plans for long term? Could have made that water for what you paid for it.

Heater and lights stand out to me.

The stand seems a little extra (rosewood is nice, but is it worth 2k?), the heater is ehhh (I prefer the BRS titanium with a controller), I know nothing about that specific light but for the price you can get probably better black box lights, the rock i subjective but i prefer Marco as it's "cheap"

I'd also recommend skipping the water charge and getting an RODI and mixing your own saltwater. You'll save a fortune in the long run, and you'll need a reliable source of RODI water for your auto top off system anyway.

Just my $0.02

Edit: I'm also noticing that there is no ATO reservoir to go with your ATO kit. Something to consider as you don't want to manually top off, and the spouse approval of a 5gal Home Depot bucket is debatable.

^This! I'm coming at this thinking the OP already purchased this system; trying to be positive and not pick apart their purchase lol!

Plus I wouldn’t trust anyone who spells Brian with a Y
Right @BryanM ?! You just got a big system. Is this price in line?
I’m not up on all the equipment, but I’m sure I’ve got close to 10k here, certainly with mistakes :)

No RODI is an unforgivable sin IMO. Our water is our heart, gotta make your own.

No I swear this was just the estimate I got. I own no fishtank. I'm looking for positive advice on anything I can do better. Ultimately it's about the fish & beautiful coral thriving with the least amount of maintenance. -respectfully

OK, then I dare say you have some options!

R2R *sharks* let's hear it!

You've come to the right place for information, especially before you buy ANYTHING lol!

I get "fish and beautiful corals", but doing some research on livestock, and letting the R2R community know what you want to get into, would help the real gurus to make some better suggestions ;-)

If you have this kind of coin to drop on a system all at once, please consider Glass Cages. The owner is very active here at R2R, and absolutely everyone says he does top quality work:

@Joe Glass Cages < Friend, at some point I'm going to need a little marketing compensation here LOL!

You can save at least $1500 if you buy your own RO unit, Marco dry rock from BRS and install the system yourself ($659 labor charge) Put that money towards good lights.
What are the right lights to get from the start, I want brightness, vivid colors, wifi, & healthy for the fish & coral.
