Dang. I don't blame you. I was just curious because another member commented on my test results from my spin test and in the small sample size ( 2 tests) the spin tests seem to be about 20-25 points off from hanna checker results for alk with the specific spin test brand. I have noticed this on all of my previous tests too.
You said nitrates matched though, right? Might be that the spin test needs an adjustment factor to match the Hanna. When in doubt I alway check a Salifert Alk test. They've been extremely consistent for me so far even between batches of kits tested on the same water sample. Easy titration since the color change is quick and apparent.

I should probably get a salient kit to double check. I have one, but it is OLD. Expired in 2013 IIRC! Lol

@tbrown Did you just put in about 8,000 entries on the Printed Reef giveaway? Yesterday I started the day with ~236 entries and a roughly 1 in 18 odds, making total # entries in the low 4,000s (can't remember exact numbers). By end of the day total entries jumped to over 10,000.

Now, considering that every new person entering the contest can add a maximum of 111 entries in their first day (including the referral entries), that means the ~6,000 new entries during the course of yesterday alone was a minimum of ~54 new persons entering the contest. All at once.

Now, if we consider all the previous entries from all the previous days were in the low 4,000s (say ~4,200), and we made a calculation assuming everyone did the minimum entries not requiring a prior purchase, prior participation in a printed reef giveaway or referral bonus (i.e., freebie entries by just social media: 31 entries remaining), then that would give about 135 participants. There were most likely fewer participants as many will have gotten the bigger entry bonuses of prior purchases/participation/etc. Still, that means the # of participants went up likely 40% or more in a very short time.

Smells like foul play @Printed Reef ! Either many reefers coordinated to join 5 days before the end OR there was a huge ad campaign that woke everyone up 5 days before the end OR someone(s) is creating a bunch of fake reefers and stacking the deck! The game is afoot!

Booyah! Mic drop... not really, just a bit of wasted time :zany-face:

All contests are a waste of time if @tbrown is involved. :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

I just got their mandarin feeder. I like the construction. Haven't been able to put it into use yet, of course, but ready to use my Biota gift cards once the tank is running!

JoJo, did you keep the Spanish way of life :face-with-tears-of-joy: I feel like you are an European time as it should be so late in your place.
Yes, theoretically I'd be walking home from Plaza Real right about now :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Sad day. I spend the whole day sitting away from my desk to get my writing finished before the deadline, submit and come back to my tank to find the Carpenter's flasher jumped through the small gap between the lid and glass sometime between lunch and now, probably about an hour ago :-(

Tight fitting lids for wrasses!!

Working on a revised stocking list for the 83. Before the carpenter jumped I was noticing that things are a bit cramped in the 40. So maybe not go overboard on the 83.

Current:
Blue star leopard wrasse
Yellow chrysus wrasse
Mrs. Pink Streak wrasse
Mr. Pink Streak wrasse
Exquisite fairy wrasse
Insane splendid pencil wrasse
...yeah, wrasse dominant now.

Upcoming:
Copperband Butterfly
One spot foxface

Thoughts for what's next:
Blue flasher wrasse
Royal flasher wrasse
Rhomboid fairy wrasse
Black leopard wrasse
1-2 mandarins

Maybe that's it. Five sand sleepers. Four flashers/fairies. Pair of pinkies. Hmm, may e a Wetmorella?

Now off the list:
Radiant wrasse
Lubbocki fairy wrasse
Hooded bathyphilus fairy wrasse
Royal pencil wrasse
Kole or yellow tang (really both dropped when I saw them in Hawaii)
Starry blenny (still debating)

I believe my yasha passed. I haven't seen him in a while. Any good ideas on a replacement? How are yellow head jawfish? Or just leave be? Guess I'll find out if the pistol shrimp is still alive during the transfer.

Why no more tangs after you saw them in the wild?

Big, active. I don't think they will fit nicely in my 48"x20"x20" tank. The foxface and the CBB will be my two big fish, and I think that'll be it. Just wrasses and maybe a bottom dweller or two after that.

I should clarify. They might be fine if I wasn't packing the tank with other active fish. If I wanted the yellow and the kole, I might just have those two and the CBB and maybe 4 wrasses (two sand sleepers, two tougher fairies).
