I was wondering how all of you with large tanks do water changes. I mix all my saltwater in gallon containers so I have the perfect specific gravity. It takes a while. I keep 4 gallons on hand. It would be 17.5 gallons for a 10% water change on a 175 gallon tank. How do you do it?

The way I did it was to use another 44 gallon brute and filled it with water from the dt to the point of my other brutes float valve then marked the tank with masking tape and after the first several times you know exactly when to shut it off.

I also drain into a second brute and I have the display marked with tape. However, since the display is on the first floor and water changing station in the basement, I can't see the tape so I continue to use the second brute. I am hoping someone has figured out another way.

I have a 100gal tank. I then use an apex dos to exchange 1.6 gal per night. Takes about 2 months to use up the 100 gallons. The waist is plumbed into the house. Easiest water changes ever!

Two 150g containers

1 for RODI

1 for mixed

A pump in between so I can move over RODI and circulate mixed. I make a new batch of mixed every couple months.

I've got a 105 gallon water storage tank connected to my system. I just drain it, refill it and turn the pump back on.
