I need suggestions on what fish to add to my 75g tank. It was a reef tank at one time that was doing great but switched to a FOWLR when I no longer could put the time in to taking care of the corals. My prized fish a Copperband passed away a few months ago and now there’s only a pair of Clownfish and a Falco Hawkfish in there with some BTA’s and two Tube Anemones.
The Clownfish spend most of the time in the nems and the Falco can be seen once in a while when he’s not hiding among the rocks. Looking at the tank you would think there’s no fish in there. The Falco showed some signs of aggression when adding fish to the tank in the past but it didn’t last long and he would settle down. I’d like to add 2-3 more fish so I’m not looking at an empty tank. What are your suggestions?

Dwarf angel
bristletooth, tomni, or possibly a yellow tang
Some type of wrasse, maybe a cleaner or wrasse or melanurus, you got a lot of options.

If you want a larger fish:
(1) Yellow Tang
(2) Brown Tang
(3) One Spot Foxface
(4) Tomini Tang
(5) White Tail Bristletooth Tang
(6) Square Tail Bristletooth Tang
(7) Twin-Spot Bristletooth Tang
(8) Singapore Angelfish
(9) One of the Swallowtail Angels (Bellus, Watanabei, Spotbreast)
(10) Cream Angelfish
(11) Red Sea Angelfish (captive bred Poma Labs)
(12) Marine Betta

Maybe a Copperband Butterfly but those can be difficult.

Pick from one of these.

I agree one or a pair of dwarf angels would make a nice centerpiece.

Halichoeres your best bets would generally be the Canary, Silver-Belly (basically Yellow Coris with a white belly- the Silver Belly being the Indian Ocean cousin to the Yellow Coris), Red-Lined (often sold as a “Christmas Wrasse” but look for H. Biocellatus). These belong to the Biochoeres clade of the Halichoeres wrasses and are generally among the smallest and more peaceful.

For Dottybacks, the general consensus seems to be Orchid, Striped (Sankeyi), and maybe Springeri. If you can find Pseudochromis Elongatus heard they aren’t too bad either.

Basslets are always a nice add for most tanks. Royal Gramma, Black Cap, Liopropoma Basslets, Yellow or Blue Assessor, and the smaller Serranus Basslets are all great adds.

Some of the small and more peaceful damsels make good adds too. Consider an Azure, Talboti, or Springeri. If you can find a Starcki that would be a nice add as well. Or maybe one of Biota’s Pavo (Peacock) Damsels if they’re available again.

I wouldn’t do a Goldflake in a 75. IMO they should go into a 150 (5 x 2 x 2) +. For a 75, the larger angels that would fit IMO are the Singapore, Cream (Xanthurus), Red Sea (Xanthotis), MAYBE a Regal considering how slow they grow. Any of the Centropyge / dwarves would be fine.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I visited 3 LFS's today to take a look at some of the fish you recommended. Can I put a Coral Beauty and Lemon Peel in the 75g or is that looking for trouble?

Not a good idea
Thought so.
Here’s what I’d do:
(1) Larger fish of your choice (Tang / Angel / Butterfly / Marine Betta)

(1) Dwarf Angel of your choice

(1) Basslet / Wrasse / Damsel of your choice
I think I've already decided on the large. One of the LFS near me has a large White Tail Yellow Eye Tang, pricey but I'll think I'll get it. The Dwarf Angel I'm undecided between the Flame or Lemon Peel. Can I do 3 Chromis as the last?

Thanks for your help. Most likely going with WTYE Tang and Flame Angel that will be added to the tank next weekend. The Chromis will have to wait for a later date because none of the shops had any so I'll probably order those from one of the online vendors.
