For seagrass (Gulf Specimen no longer sells to the public, and Aquaculture Nursery Farm seems to have gone drastically downhill if they're still operating):The ones I hear recommended:
I've heard really good things about Gulf Coast Ecosystems, Mosaic Macros, and the Macro Lady in particular; people seem to like Alyssa's Seahorse Savvy's selection, but not their prices.
- AlgaeBarn
- Alyssa's Seahorse Savvy
- Aquaticus (Aquaticus Plants - they sell cultured sea grass)
- Gulf Coast Ecosystems (live-plants.com)
- Indo-Pacific Sea Farms
- Mosaic Macros
- Reef Cleaners
- Salty Bottom Reef Company
- The Macro Lady
Others I know, but don't know anyone who has used them yet (at least not for macros):
- Addictive Reef Keeping (they've got some rare macros; I'd love to know if they're a good source or not)
- Algae Research Supply
- BlueZooAquatics
- Carolina.com
- FloridaPets (they occasionally have some rare stuff, including some sea grasses I haven't seen anywhere else yet)
- KP Aquatics
- MySaltWaterFishStore
- Ward's Science
Coldwater:
- Gulf of Maine, Inc.
- Matsu Collections
Those seem to be the main two sources of seagrass these days. I do not have experience with Aquaticus Plants (@SeaGrass Cullen), though its seems to have a good reputation, and Tropical Fish Plus (@TFP2021) offers manatee grass (Syringodium filiforme) for a great price (20+ individual plants for $8), though the macroalgae I received from them did contain hitchhikers.
Sources that currently have/recently stocked the following seagrasses (in the states):
Turtle grass (Thalassia testudinum):
- Aquaticus Plants
- FloridaPets
- Gulf Specimen Marine Laboratory
- Addictive Reef Keeping
- Gulf Coast Ecosystems once sold turtle grass (Thalassia testudinum)
Manatee grass (Syringodium filiforme):
- Aquaticus Plants
- Aquaculture Nursery Farms
- Addictive Reef Keeping
Shoal grass (Halodule wrightii)
- Aquaticus Plants
Eelgrass (Zostera marina) (coldwater seagrass):
- FloridaPets
- Gulf of Maine
Halophila
- Ask Aquaticus Plants for availability
Outside the U.S.:
Sickle seagrass (Thalassia hemprichii)
- Charm (occasionally)

RUSALTYCan someone recommend a replicable place to purchase macro alge and grasses.

Has Rusalty gotten back into being a decent company recently? The last I'd heard they were having some major issues.RUSALTY
I’ve ordered from them lots and never had an issue, but obviously others have. I can only go by my experience.Has Rusalty gotten back into being a decent company recently? The last I'd heard they were having some major issues.
How recent was your last order?I’ve ordered from them lots and never had an issue, but obviously others have. I can only go by my experience.
Last week I ordered some phyto fertilizer. How recent was your last order
Good to know - I haven't heard anything since August last year, but I had been hearing some pretty negative stuff for a while (several months, IIRC) before that to the point where I wasn't even sure if they were still in business.Last week I ordered some phyto fertilizer.
Years ago I ordered LOTS.. and I mean LOTS from them. This was around 8 years ago so means nothing. I love their Reef Soup product.Good to know - I haven't heard anything since August last year, but I had been hearing some pretty negative stuff for a while (several months, IIRC) before that to the point where I wasn't even sure if they were still in business.
This gives me hope that they might make a good comeback - they were a big-name reputable company a few years ago with some unique stock, so I was sad to hear they were going downhill.
