If we end up staying in the states longer than originally anticipated, then yes. About a 750g basement plywood build.

I should add that, if the move to the Philippines occurs as anticipated then also yes, but that Sohal's shipping cost would be prohibitive. You should just send it to me now.

Edit- didn't mean to be soo long winded, please read and give opinions:beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Good evening everybody!!
Trying to make a decision here, need some rational voices of reasoning...
I've been holding out on upgrading my aging tank(it was used when i bought it in 2014). Currently 180g total volume. My ideal tank would be 400-500g(96"x36"x31"), about $10k(just the tank, no dump or stand) from Glass cages.
I have commitment issues and don't want to spend that kind of money if I can't be successful with acropora. In the past I do well for a year or so then something always happens and they all die. I've been running a 300g stock tank since mid June and it couldn't be going any better. No algea problems, cruised through dinos, acros doing great(growth/ color) for 2 or 3 months now...
Now the question.....
Do I settle on the tank? Wait until I price myself to myself?
Talking with Joe, he has a 320g(?)(84"x30"31") already built and can do it for 4700 shipped to my door. So 6" less front to back, and 12" shorter, but less then half the price. My main issue is that I wanted the coast to coast external overflow and this tank is drilled and set up for(and includes) a synergy v3 overflow. I read alot of complaints of noisy synergy overflows and many people praise the modular marine overflow(that can be customized to match the already drilled tank. I'm not fond of either because it seems like a add on to me, not actually part of the tank(essentially 2 siphons running?) Anybody have experience with either overflow or add on overflows in general? Would you regret the size difference or overflow concession? Or will all those concerns disappear once I have a nice shiny new tank that's double my current tank for 1/2 the expected price? Idk what to do, any and all opinions are welcome and appreciated!!
Please and thank you! -David :)

1 for 5K saved for equip/livestock etc , I'd settle with a foot less in length,and a lil less depth... :)
@F i s h y @Stang67 @Nate Chalk , would have more to say on overflows i believe...;)

I went 96 x 30 wide and 25 deep short end coast to coast overflow. If you arent doing a peninsula then any more than 30 inches wide you will never reach the bottom back. Even at only 25 tall. The width and depth are nearly perfect for lighting and you can dial in par for a mixed reef easily. If I had it to do over I would honestly have gone to 120 inches for the length.
I can't tell you the exact price because I don't remember but it would give you some wiggle room in your budget. Make sure to get seam guards, top and bottom eurobracing and you will never have to worry about your tank again.

@Joe Glass Cages and his team build exceptional tanks. Will always recommend them first.

My original thought. And it gives me more time to prove myself.

This is where I'm leaning. I have lights, return pump and alot of "stuff" horded and ready and I can do some things with a extra 5k.. :face-in-clouds:
My modular marine overflow is great. I actually love it
Please elaborate. Is it essentially running and running 2 sipons? 1 from inside box to outside box, and then from the outer box to the sump? Is it quiet? What size?
If this is the question this is my answer

If I wasn't confused before, I am now! But it looks like they need a bigger raft. So if I'm them, and the tank is my raft: maybe I'm drowning and need to learn to swim before sinking another vessel? Or find peace with my failures and pivot:thinking-face:
If money isn’t an issue go for the bigger one that you really want or you may always regret it.
This is my fear. If everything goes great, I might miss the size in a few years and have wasted this 5k. Even worse would be spending 5 or 10 and then not being content. I do alright but am not loaded. 5 or 10k can easily go somewhere else. Apparently everything I like is expensive and I have to choose. Most recently I reeeeaalllyy want to build a rc car around one of these..

I've always told myself I would go fowler if I failed acro forest tank. Through the years,I see all the amazing fish that are incompatible. I've had every forest except, (aiptaisia, gha, toadstool, paly). 9 years, but can't seem to give up use chemicals or restart. The pond is my 2nd system. But maybe serenity is best felt in your hand than acros the river:thinking-face:

I was just voting for go home and getting the smaller tank. I know nothing about overflows but I do love a good deal.

I spoke with him last night, great guy!! Very helpful. Hopefully I don't annoy him with my million questions :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Current intent is like a peninsula but not viewable from the rear. Kinda divides off a room behind the tank

What size is your current tank?

Exactly. The rub is that I have zero experience with add on overflows, want it dam near silent, and love their coast to coast overflow with the glass box outside is actually part of the tank...

I get the desire for the coast-to-coast with nothing but a clean back wall overflow comb and the box on the outside as part of the aquarium. I'd love it myself, but I don't have that setup on any of my tanks, what I do have are Modular Marine overflows. One of my tanks, exactly the dimensions as the 84"x30"31" Joe has offered you, had two holes drilled in the back wall 12" from each end of the tank. I had MM custom build me an inside overflow box 6' long to fit into the two holes. Not coast-to-coast, but as close as I could get. The inside box is hidden behind my in-tank background. Outside box was custom also to accommodate the wide hole spacing. I have nothing bad to say about Modular Marine. Quality, easy to work with and functional.
