I have a synergy and I'm sure I don't have it tuned right. But I like the sound of it. Plus my sump is in the basement so there is that.Edit- didn't mean to be soo long winded, please read and give opinions
Good evening everybody!!
Trying to make a decision here, need some rational voices of reasoning...
I've been holding out on upgrading my aging tank(it was used when i bought it in 2014). Currently 180g total volume. My ideal tank would be 400-500g(96"x36"x31"), about $10k(just the tank, no dump or stand) from Glass cages.
I have commitment issues and don't want to spend that kind of money if I can't be successful with acropora. In the past I do well for a year or so then something always happens and they all die. I've been running a 300g stock tank since mid June and it couldn't be going any better. No algea problems, cruised through dinos, acros doing great(growth/ color) for 2 or 3 months now...
Now the question.....
Do I settle on the tank? Wait until I price myself to myself?
Talking with Joe, he has a 320g(?)(84"x30"31") already built and can do it for 4700 shipped to my door. So 6" less front to back, and 12" shorter, but less then half the price. My main issue is that I wanted the coast to coast external overflow and this tank is drilled and set up for(and includes) a synergy v3 overflow. I read alot of complaints of noisy synergy overflows and many people praise the modular marine overflow(that can be customized to match the already drilled tank. I'm not fond of either because it seems like a add on to me, not actually part of the tank(essentially 2 siphons running?) Anybody have experience with either overflow or add on overflows in general? Would you regret the size difference or overflow concession? Or will all those concerns disappear once I have a nice shiny new tank that's double my current tank for 1/2 the expected price? Idk what to do, any and all opinions are welcome and appreciated!!
Please and thank you! -David
If it's not what you really want then my opinion is wait. You will always have that "what if" in the back of your mind.
sorry late again.
