I love my axium x-160. I do not have to fine tune after the first few weeks of break in. And easy enough with gate and silencer I do not hear more than a very slight hum with my cabinet closed. Have to empty once a week. And produces a dark smelly skimmate.

I run mine on a 40b with a 15g sump.

I bought half price new from a lfs that was going out of business.

Only complaint i have is to clean the pump need to unscrew 3 screws on the base. Ive only done once.

If your water level is higher than its required level make sure you buy a stand to raise it.

When breaking in start everything fully open.

from when i moved it to my current tank.

I've been having a X-120 on my 90 gal reef for a few months now and it's doing a great job at dry skimming. Have the bubbles tuned even where the collection cup inserts into the neck and I usually empty it once a week. Very quiet, easy to clean and looks sharp!

I have a Gen 4 x-120 and its great! Set it and forget it; been running about 2 months now in my sump and started pulling nice brown skimate the very first day.

I would like to know opinions before I run water through the body and pump.
I currently have a curve 5 and LOVE it from the reaction chamber being cleanable to the collection cap having the nipple to direct the mate to the sides, all modifiable but why?. From the one picture of the collection it looks very promising but It’s not reassuring comparing. I quickly purchased this during cyber and thought it was the eddy plate reaction cap so that might be popping my ballon alone. Well built but seems the went for there brand over the effenceny but that’s just comparing not running. It was purchased for my 110 so it’s maxed but it’s rated more then the curve 5.

EDIT: Guess trying is the only way to learn really... I can modify the reaction chamber and add some nipple to the cap. It’s the same cap as the eddy just with a skirt.

I have had no issues with the bubble plate on the x-160. Or the collection not collecting evenly. Think the “skirt” design does something to that effect.
