Hello everyone! Any ideas what this little one is? I have been trying to catch the little bigger on camera for a couple weeks now, it is quite quick to retract.

Does it have a scale like appearance? And any chance you could get a pic of the mouth/front?

I'll try to catch it again tonight for a picture of the head.

It did kind of look like scales, almost, while it was fully extended. But I think more like rings of an earthworm and not so much individual scales of a snake. Sounds kind of crazy as I re-read that.

Do you have a thought on what it might be? I could compare existing pictures to my memory if you have a gut feeling.

It could be a bobbit worm, giant reef worm, Dorvilleidae worm or just some random type of Eunicid worm

talk about a rabbit hole... (there's a terrible "dad" joke in there somewhere.)

So I don't recall any bristles/legs/appendages on it, so I'm leaning toward something like a peanut worm, than the Eunicid variety, now that I've researched whats been presented so far. The very first time I saw it, I thought it was a piece of rogue chaeto, bleaching in color, stuck in a piece of rock.

I think you're right, though, I really need to get a picture of the head. I'll try to catch it out again tonight.

As mentioned, its definitely not immediately apparent what type it is but around here Eunicid worms always come up as the suspect as they're probably the scariest thing to exist on earth.
I don't believe this to be the case in this circumstance due to the lack of appendages, mandibles and segmented body but i can't say i know what it is.
we're in this together boys so hopefully someone has the answers haha
