Nicrew HyperReef GEN 2 is available on Amazon from next month just in case anyone was interested.

Key enhancements of the HyperReef Gen 2, compared to its predecessor, include spectral optimization, redesigned lens, enhanced control features, and a robust mounting system.

Anyone know if the G1 controller will work with the G2 light? Interested in upgrading my G1, 150w to the new 200w.
I dont have a G1 controller but the G2 takes USB-C cables to connect a controller to it so I'm gonna say a G1 controller won't work assuming it only has a receptacle for a TRRS connector.

I saw on Instagram that @telegraham has been communicating with Nicrew on 0-10v support through a junction box so maybe there's a chance the G1 controller could connect to the junction box? Any thoughts here, Telegraham?

I ask because I noticed today that the G1 controller has a USB-C input on it. Really want to pull the trigger but would hate to spend another $50 on a new controller for it too.

Ahh, hmm, maybe it does work then. I just assumed it wouldn't have the right port. Their customer support email answered my questions via email pretty quickly. Might shoot them an email and ask.

Sent a message through Amazon so I'll see what they say. If I pull the trigger I'll let you know how I make out.

They responded.
"Thank you for reaching out to us, and we sincerely apologize for any confusion regarding the compatibility of our controllers. The G1 controllers are only compatible with the HyperReef 50/100/150 Gen 1 lights. However, the G2 controller offers broader compatibility, as it works with both the HyperReef Gen 2 lights and the HyperReef 50/100/150 Gen 1 lights. If you need further assistance or have additional questions, please don't hesitate to let us know.Best regards,Nathan"

Also looking at the additional LEDs associated with the 200w G2 vs the 150w G1, Im not too sold that over my 30x20x20 it'll be worth the jump? They do claim that the G1 has "hot spots" which I may be seeing as I can not keep any SPS directly in the center underneath the light. They bleach out and go into a STN. But just outside of that center point all other SPS are doing amazing. Wondering if the new 120 optics would make a difference? Also there website says $319 but Amazon is showing them at $399 still.

The gen 2 supposedly got rid of the hot spots. I have 3 - 200s and controller coming Saturday replacing my hydra 26 hds. I'm going to remove my canopy and mount them about 8 inches from the water. What do you recommend putting the initial setting on? I don't to fry my little bit of sps I have.

I only got the G1 50W to power a frag rack in my sump so I've not got G1 experience but I will say the spread on the G2 is pretty crazy. Just from seeing the literature Nicrew released paired with what I'm seeing with my G2, I would MUCH prefer this spread to anything more focused. Edges of my tank are more lit up than they were on my previous setup.
