If you have encrusting coral, eventually they run out of room before growing over each other. Then the combat begins! Here is a photo of red Leptoseris and green Pavona decimating the Montipora in the middle, then having a stalemate between them.

Hate them things lol! I had a little piece that should have died when it was on a rock out of water for 7 hours! Nope it’s about foot and half long now and growing around everything! Luckily it doesn’t harm my sticks they back it off and it melts on the edges lol.
