Is this a baby aptasia? Or a clove polyp?… or some kind of leather…?

It looks like it. I also want to give props for the theatrical photo zoom in. I was concerned it was gonna be a "where the hell are we supposed to look"
But this.... well worth it
I had the same reaction haha. And props for spotting such a small aiptasia.

That’s certainly great to hear thanks for the reality check y’all… i saw one just like it on the same frag when i first got it, and i scraped it off with a razor just in case. The bugger seems to be back i’ll try the super glue thing tomorrow as soon as possible (ran out of it). First reef tank, staying hopeful that’s the only one now (and stays that way until tomorrow). Im glad i caught it now, it’s on the xenia frag — on the side that’s facing the corner wall.

Why couldn’t it be a clove polyp or something

If you’re super worried about it, I’d pull that frag, give it a glorious Viking style burning funeral somewhere and move on. I would send you Xenia but I don’t keep that.

If you let that coral run rampant, you’ll wish for aiptasia
Tell me about it, fast forward a couple months and we get xenia AND aptasia both taking over the tank lol. Turn it into a battle of the weeds.
In all seriousness i sort of wanted to make a xenia island, but now that this xenia frag brought aptasia, i shall join team anti-xenia. Call me xeniaphobic.

Yea. Islands don't work. Have one tank where the xinia spread to most rocks and the back wall while the pink anthill took over a rock. Other tank the pink anthill got to every rock.

The polyops litterally just detach and float around. Return the coral or sell it to someone.

Also aptasia, for me, dosnt spread in my display, i have a MASSIVE aptasia that litterally just looks like a brown coral. Never has spread. Sumps filled. I do have a breeding/mated pair of peppermint though.

Interesting. I’m not sure anyone wants an aptasia xenia combo frag but this inspires me to make some kind of bowl dedicated to this frag. I’d feel bad for killing it, not that i’d ever do that…

Yea. I feel bad killing the small frag. Even though I spent litterally 17 hours (not overexertion) acros sunday, monday, and tuesday, scraping pink anthillia of wvery one of my rocks in my tank and re scaping it. It smothered and killed so many corals.

I once got canal water and put some xenia in it to see how long it would survive. I forgot to topoff so it laster till the bowl dried out.

Oof. That’s certainly a tough situation… by the way, you mention pink anthelia. Are you referring to the actual anthelia coral or the aiptasia anemone? I didnt know anthelia could be so invasive
