I have an outbreak of ich in my frag tank system. I am removing all the fish and will treat them in hypo while leaving the tanks fallow. I was given this little pipefish that feeds only on pods. If I remove the pipefish and put it into qt with the others it will not have any food supply and surely die. Are pipefish ich resistant that I can leave it in the system with all the other fish removed. Any advise?
Thanks
Jeff

If you want to be successful at eradicating ich, every fish must be removed.

You can buy copepods to feed the fish in QT

Pipefish are not immune to ich but rarely get ich and more susceptible to bacterial issues. They are totally Intolerant of copper based meds and if no dots or signs of ich, I would quarantine them in their own little tank. They wont do well in Hypo-salinity either. Because they dwell best in lower temperatures, this reduces chances also of bacterial issues

Thanks for your help with these issues as always!

I was wondering if the OP should do a Tank Transfer Method on the pipefish using a set of 5 gallon pails. Would that be advised or not worth it?

Thanks again!

Too much stress on such a small fish which may not have been affected.
