- What country are you located in? United States
- What is one thing you always need more of? Two Part dosing powders
- What are your other hobbies/interests? Bonsai, Horseback riding, dog training, Search and Rescue, painting, sculpting, fiber arts, playing music, building, creating, and tinkering, model trains/holiday villages
- How do you like to spend your free time, whether it's relaxing after work or on the weekends? Doing my hobbies, riding horses, camping, tinkering
- Do you have any dietary restrictions or preferences if your Santa wants to send a treat? I have a strong aversion to peanut butter. It isn't an allergy, and I will happily chomp on peanut containing snacks as long as there is not peanut butter in it, and if I do end up with something with peanut butter, my emotional support husband will definitely dispose of it for me, so it won't be going to waste.
- What’s your favorite candy or snack, either from your childhood or something you love to munch on now? Favorite candy growing up was definitely sour gummy candy of various kinds, which I do still enjoy, or Nerds. Snacks in general goldfish or seasoned pretzels
- What’s your favorite holiday tradition? Going to see the Christmas lights
- Do you collect anything? Too many things. Bonsai, Wrestling trading cards, interesting paper to paint on, model trains, exhaustion
- What's your favorite color? Purple
- What size t-shirt/hoodie/socks do you wear? s/m shirt and hoodie, women's average on socks.
- What's one TV show or movie you can watch over and over again? I always have a hard time answering this one. Ultimately, Stargate SG 1 or any of the Star Trek series probably are the best answers.
- What type of music do you listen to? Anything but remixed crow noises at 5am. On a serious note, lately I've been into Belmont, Thrice, and Bilmurri (no not that Bill Murray)
- Do you enjoy reading? If so, what types of books do you like? I love to read - fantasy and scifi for fiction, dog and animal behavioral sciences for nonfiction
- Do you play any games (board games, video games, card games, etc.)? If yes, what are your favorites? I do! Pokemon cards as well as video games, I tabletop game with War Hammer, I enjoy Animal Crossing/Harvest moon style cozy games, as well as action adventure and choices matterstyle games like "Like a Dragon" orlike the "Life is strange" series.
- Are you a fan of any sports teams? Fighting Texas Aggies, but I don't actually really watch sports. I'm just an alum and a third generation Aggie,so I feel like it would be dirty of me to not acknowledge that.
- What’s something interesting about you that most people on R2R don’t know? I am an adaptive equestrian, so I ride horses 5 days a week despite being in a wheelchair.
- If you could travel anywhere, where would it be? Japan is one of my favorite places to travel to
- What’s one item on your bucket list? To compete in para dressage on the international stage
- Do you have any pets besides your reef tank? Tell us about them! I have two dogs, Brodie and Fletcher, both are trained search dogs, and Fletcher is also trained as a therapy dog. I also have two cats, who are cuddle bugs and enjoy watching the fish tanks, and I lease a horse who is a 17.2hh Percheron who definitely thinks he's the tiniest pony at the barn.
- What's your favorite fish? I have a hard time answering this, but I think my Helfrichi firefish right now. It has a really funny personality and I love watching it in the tank
- Favorite coral? Yuma Ricordea
- Favorite invert? My blue dwarf freshwater crawfish
- Tell us about your tank(s)! What size are they? What do you keep in them? Do you have a build thread? I do have a build thread, where I post both of my home tanks. Right now I've got the 100g display reef, and a 10 gallon blackwater tank. Both are self managing for the most part, and higher tech than I had planned on going, but I have no regrets. My blackwater tank has Cardinia shrimp, Brazos dwarf crawfish, Blue axelrodi raspboras and clown kilifish as well as a whole ecosystem down to live foods that repopulate by breeding.
- Do you have any planned upgrades or tweaks you’d like to make to your tank(s)? My next reef addition will be a Maven when it commes out - automated testing will just absolutely up my ability to manage the tank. For the blackwater tank, I want to put a hydros controller on it with a ph probe to control co2 for the plants, as well as to manage water changes and dosing.
- What's your favorite thing to watch in your tank? Before my crash last year, it was the odd relationship between my scopas tang and a starry blenny. They were bros and showed eachother where food was. It was so funny to watch. Now, it's my pistol shrimp getting his engineering degree one pile of sand at a time. In the fresh water tank, I love watching the crawfish do crawfish things on the bottom and vaguely threaten the shrimps.
- Are there any parts of the reef hobby you get really excited over? Automation! As someone who is disabled, finding ways to more easily manage and participate in the hobby is really important to me. I enjoy being able to manage the reef from my phone, and being able to adjust things on the fly as I need.
- What are some good gift ideas for you? (Some general thoughts or ideas for whoever draws your name.) I have a hard time answering this one. I'm always a fan of practical gifts like coffee cups or other dishes, I'm also happy to get coral, something hand made, or even something as simple as algae blades for my flipper scraper.
- If you had to choose, would you rather receive something handmade or something store-bought? Hand made probably, it tends to be really meaningful to me, but I'm happy to just be a part of the community.
- Are there any specific brands or reef products you love or prefer? TDO food, Hydros controller parts, I use BRS two part for dosing, and for the rare gfo/carbon needs.
- Would you be interested in receiving livestock? If yes, what would you be interested in? disclaimer due to the busy holiday season we recommend not shipping livestock I would be interested in it - either corals or fish, or even something for the freshwater tank - I was planning to add another trio of clown killifish soon, and it would be a neat gift to get
- Are there any additional questions you wish we had asked that we didn't? (Add those questions in under these and post your answers.) None at this time
