This may be a silly question, but I just realized I may not be doing this correctly and wanted to check.

We have a Red Sea reefer 625 G2. It came with a black coarse bubble trap that goes in the sump between the skimmer chamber and the return chamber. It has a black baffle on the left side that has two long notches in it. (See pic.

Are you supposed to lower the baffle so that water flows over the top of it and falls onto the bubble trap? Or are you supposed to raise the baffle so that water flows through the notches?

I think the water needs to pass along the bottom so that unless flow is high enough to shove bubbles down, they can't pass below. If the water goes over the top, I would think the bubbles would just go right over.

The water has to flow over it.
The 2 notches are there so you can set the height of the baffle, this will decide the sump water level.
