I'm starting to iron out the kinks of my tank and god I wish I took testing more seriously. I'm replacing my current test kits (seachem &api) with salifert but in the mean time which alkalinity test kit should I put more stock in seachem or api? Seachem reads 7dkh while api reads 8.5 I'll retest again in the morning but I am terrible t counting drops.

Hi Bristle! The good news is either 7 or 8.5 is fine even if your target range is the latter. I would personally just try to keep dkh stable until you get the Salifert kit, get a good reading, and then start adjusting from there to your target zone.

Unfortunately the salifert kit requires 4 drops of a liquid too. I have found it's easier to see them (I'm old, lol) by watching the water sample for ripples. The second reagent is done with a syringe and much easier to see.

4 drops is much better than 20+ with the seachem kit lol. Thank you!

Re tested this morning last night I feel like I messed it up. Seachem showed 6.5dkh while Api showed 9dkh I'm pretty sure Api is closer since my corals are happy.
