@VintageReefer okay... well, was at 7.0, and just had my alk go to 8.9. I thoroughly mixed the solution and shook it several times, but some reason i'm suspecting it settled to the bottom. Okay, so, now next steps for maintaning this, im assuming for tomorrow would be either 1 tbs or 2tbs?

So for 150g of water to go from a 7.0 to a 8.9 you would have had to add almost 7 tsp.

I notice in your post you are talking about tbs. So I gotta ask, are you measuring in teaspoons or tablespoons. Because we are suppose to be using teaspoons

Teaspoon. I know my cooking measurements haha. That said I did crack open a new alk bottle as I just finished the old one. How long do they last after being opened? So all the days measurements but the last one was from the new reagent. 4 tsp exactly. No generous extra mound. Flat. Just as one would bake.

Is it possible the reagent expired, or aged causing the results to skew?

Ok good so there is no tablespoons. We’re using teaspoons.

Ok forget what happened to get to this point. We’re slightly high but that’s ok.

Don’t add anything. Tomorrow do the test and see what it comes down to and we will try again to estimate what’s needed to get to 8.5, and then test if it works

Fair enough - so around 3pm as that’s when it seems the baking soda seems to have been dosed.

So take away from today is you went from 7 to 8.9 which is roughly a 2dkh increase

You added 4 tsp of baking soda

Meaning - every 1 tsp should bring you up .5. Based on todays results.

So tomorrow we see the drop and test again to see what happens and if the outcome is repeatable

No no factoring for rock and sand. Honestly no idea how much rock lbs there are nor sand. Good amount though. So for generous estimates probably could assume we’re near 150
What we can always do is use the calculator as a tool to see your actual water gallons. If hypothetical we add 1 tsp and your dkh goes up by X, then we plug it in the calculator and if the results don’t line up we start fudging the tank volume gallons until the numbers line up.
