I guess it all started a few years ago when I stumbled upon some beautiful Tonga rock locally. I had no aspirations for a reef tank, but always loved this stuff. I’ve been in the aquarium hobby for most of my life, so have seen its availability fade into “unobtainium”. I bought the rock and stashed it away for a rainy day.

During the summer of 2024, I was growing bored with my freshwater tank. My GF and I were doing some rearranging of our apartment and found ourselves with an empty 30” wall. Immediately, the lightbulb in my brain went off. By pure dumb luck, Waterbox was having a sweet sale. A few days later, my new tank was here. A Waterbox 35.2 AIO…

A few days after that, we were in business.

Fast forward a few months, and things are moving along way better than I expected. I decided to run this tank as basically as humanly possibly: no skimmer, no filter socks, nothing. The only real equipment currently in operation is a Radion G6 XR15 Blue, Jebao Vortech fugazi, and a Tunze ATO. I think we have a tendency to complicate things. So far so good!
