Hey guys, I’m planning on adding some easy to keep and fast growing sps corals to my tank. I will add a total of 4 and from that I have so far decided on a green Birdsnest, red montipora digitata, and monti pora capricornis. I am thinking of getting a pavona coral as well, but I cannot find pictures of full grown colonies of it in aquariums. Only small frags, or massive ones in the ocean. So, if you have any pavona coral, especiallly green ones, do show me pictures of it so that I can really see how it looks in an aquarium once it has grown out! Then it will be much easier to decide on whether I want to put it in my aquarium or not.

Please give the details like:
Tank size and age
Lights used and which mode it is on as well as lighting hours
Coral size and age and how much it grew from when you got it.
Water chemistry.

TIA

My old 120.
Hairy one is cactus and kills whatever it touches.
Potato chip is a good choice for an acro system.

True, I have a Cactus and it has some pretty nasty sweepers.

Seems like you guys have it on the lower half of your aquarium. I was thinking of getting this coral and putting it in the upper half. Will that be fine? I’m my tank I will basically have the three sps one after the other on the three highest points marked in yellow circles. I was thinking of putting the Birdsnest on the right most circle, then the pavona on the middle and finally a red montipora digitata on the left most circle which is basically in the middle of the aquarium. And right behind that I will have a gsp wall. Finally on the left side of the aquarium, I want to keep montipora on the areas marked in green. Let me know if all these will be possible and most importantly if it will look nice. Also if you think some other coral will look better in place of the pavona or it will look better with different placements do let me know!

I’m sorry the tank is not the best, it went through many things and I killed several corals as well by accidentally dosing too much. Also my chiller broke down once and the tank went through extreme heat where I killed some more. But so far I have been able to get this on my aquarium.

It is 150 gallons, 5x2x2 feet. Do let me know what you think of it!

I find Pavonas and Leptos work in almost any lighting but they seem to grow faster in a medium light, medium flow. My Cactus grew really fast in the very middle of my tank. Same with my Hulk Lepto. My JF Klepto Lepto grows faster in lower light but has better colors in a little higher light.

Would you say where I want to keep it is fine? Or would you suggest some other easy to keep and fast growing branching coral to keep there instead of this pavona? Do let me know!

You could but I'd suggest that shelf to the left of the green area personally.

Just my opinion. It will likely do fine on any of the yellow circles but I'd put them on the front rather than on top personally.

I already put a candy cane there. That’s why I wanted to put it up there. Or do you think some other sps coral will look better up there? Since I will put a green Birdsnest and red montipora digitata there as well. I can also put a green montipora digitata or hirsuta or some other coral. Do let me know!

Currently have 2 Radions, will be adding a third one soon. But yeah. Do let me know if you think any other coral will look better instead of the pavona. Along with the red montipora digitata and green Birdsnest!

It depends on the Pavona. A potato chip can go anywhere but I find they do well at 200ish par.
Never ran them much higher than the bottom except for the back wall of my nano cube.
A cactus pavona would do well on the back wall as it needs space.
My catus on the back wall of my 18" nano cube. It grows fast and again will kill the coral it touches.
I keep my bird nest on the bottom around 200 par in my current 150.
Digis the same at 200 par.
My 18" nano cube and digis/potato in my old 80 running 4 xr15's.
