Hey fellow aquarists!

I’m thrilled to announce that after two years of research, development, and countless hours of effort, what started as a passion project has turned into reality. As an avid hobbyist myself, I’ve always dreamed of making aquarium care easier, smarter, and—most importantly—affordable for everyone. That’s exactly why I created "Tank Commander", and I’m excited to share that it’s launching on Kickstarter in just one week!

What is Tank Commander?

It’s a smart automation device designed specifically for aquarium enthusiasts like us. With a 6-outlet smart power strip, built-in probes (temperature, leak detection, grounding, and support for pH, TDS, salinity), automated temperature and pH control, a remote-control app, a local display, and OTA updates, it’s packed with features to make tank maintenance simple and stress-free.

Check out the intro video and demo to see it in action!

Be sure to sign up for the pre-launch page so you don’t miss out on early-bird rewards when we go live!

As a fellow hobbyist and engineer by profession, I created Tank Commander with our community in mind, aiming to provide an affordable solution that doesn’t compromise on quality or functionality. This project is my way of giving back to the fishkeeping community—helping others avoid the challenges I faced and making this incredible hobby accessible to more people.

I’d greatly appreciate your support in helping spread the word. If you’re excited about Tank Commander, please share it on your favorite platforms, forums, or social media channels to help get the word out to other hobbyists. Together, we can make this dream a success and revolutionize aquarium care for everyone!

Let’s make aquarium automation accessible to all!

Good luck! I saved your project in my KS account.

I think there’s really big gap you could fill with an affordable, QUALITY controller/monitor. The big names are very expensive, and increasingly unreliable. Avoid those pitfalls and you could be very successful!

Look interesting for entry level controlling. If the on/off times for one of the power outlets is controllable down to the seconds with scheduling , It can be used for a dosing pump
Yes, you can schedule your outlets down to seconds. We are adding a lot more features to the app to make it easy and more versatile.
Please spread the word around! Thanks for all the support.

How do you compare you project or product to Reef-Pi or Robo-Tank? I have dabbled in both.

Reef-Pi is a an open source project and is based on Raspberry Pi with runs of an operating system like Debian. and you'll have to put all of it together along with there is no mobile app to make it easy to configure and monitor . The same goes with Robo-Tank. What we will offer is a complete packaged product which is plug n play. you can always add probes and peripherals of your choice to add-on. There is so much more to it , the goal is to make it affordable where we take all the hassle from user's mind and offer state of the art product with best experience and affordable price.

Again, I'm all ears, friend :) I'm looking for a low cost aquarium controller solution.

If you don't mind:
@Ranjib
@robsworld78

I know both the above members have controller software that is open source software and one of the benefits (though potentially a struggle) is that you can use almost any reef gear you would to use, and you wouldn't be locked into proprietary gear or limited to certain brands (I'm looking at you, Apex!). Are you able to offer the same now and going forward?

Thank you very much, I'm sincerely interested!

Really appreciate all the feedback and discussion here.
There are two things to consider when someone decided to invest in aquarium automation. First is cost and second is the experience (setup , configure and overall monitoring and control). Some hobbyists prefer Apex/Neptune systems while others pick Hydros based on the two factors I mentioned (Price and experience).

Our goal is to close that gap enough that it becomes truly affordable for every hobbyist. For instance we are planning on adding expansion ports to future proof the device, that with newer probes or peripherals you'll not have to upgrade the whole system instead it would be plug n play and backward compatible. Trust me, when I started the hobby myself the price of existing options were pricy enough and couldn't afford it.

Hope this answers your question/concern, feel free to ask more and spread the word :)
