C Rubeus is definitely an interesting looking fish, but there's already enough red in the tank (especially with other items on the stocking list) that the addition of other colors (or a fish with a blend of colors) seems like a more appealing option to me.

Good note about the Naoko, I'll keep this in mind. I like to keep the peace in my tanks, even if that means severely understocking. I do build my scapes around habitats, even if it means less room to mount coral or less viewing angles. IMO it's only right to build a satisfactory home for the fish as the primary consideration, with coral as a means to "fill in" - but I know not everyone agrees with this perspective.

My goby is an absolute menace with the sand - I'm convinced he hates my zoas. In my barebottom holding tank with just a takeout container of sand for the goby I have watched him pick up a mouthful of sand and swim 2' to the other side of the tank just to deposit it on a zoa colony, then turn and stare at me through the glass. Cheeky little guy he is.
Might look into a lubbocki? Lot of color in a little (inexpensive) fish. I have an exquisite on the way for Monday:

It's definitely a pretty fish. I'd like to see it under the Radion AB+ profile - I imagine that color pops, it's almost iridescent.

Good morning, Heathens!

I didn't do maintenance yesterday, so there is still a film over the glass this morning. While unsightly, it has allowed me to notice a number of asterinas feasting on the biofilm.

We have enemies inside the wire!

I say again, "WE HAVE ENEMIES INSIDE THE WIRE"!
Sorry about that; it's probably my fault.
Okay, okay... I know that I'm paranoid when it comes to these little buggers, and I know that many of you not only like them, but view them as beneficial.

I still have serious trust issues, even though all indicators point to this variety preferring to dine on algae instead of coral.

It is clear to me, however, that The House of Orange has contracted reef herpes. Adding additional Harlequins isn't an option at this point, but I still want to control the population.

@Slocke I know that, while not their first pick of menu items, P. hexataenia and P. octotaenia have been known to eat them (asterinas). Given the fact that, to reference yesterday's discussion, quod piscis impius est, neither will be added to my system.

That begs the question: are you aware of any other wrasse(s) that would predate them? Specifically any in the genus Halichoeres? More particularly H. cosmetus, as I've been considering adding a specimen anyway.

if so, to your knowledge, what other considerations should I make or be aware of with the cosmetus?

i value and respect your knowledge, and thank you in advance for any insight you can provide here.
can't help with any of this.

Ammonium and chlorine… imagine telling fresh reefer you that that’s what you’d be tossing into your tank

I was telling the wastewater guys that on Wednesday. That and Trisodium Phosphate, Magnesium Chloride, and Magnesium Sulfate plus Haloacetic Acids...

Wastewater chemistry. When you're trying to impress lab nerds you gotta use big words.
