I have just started setting up the TMC next wave 85, wondering if anyone else has this tank? The water level is very close to the top?

Any suggestions or advice

I don't have your specific tank, but do you possibly have any filter media like filter floss or pads that may be restricting water flow through the filter section? This can cause the water in the display area to rise and go over the back divider?

If your pump is DC adjustable, you can turn down theflow a bit, see if that helps.

Or, you just may have too much water in the system. With these AIO's you don't want the water level in the filter section completely full. Check out this post, maybe it will help:

Hope that helps!

It’s impossible to fill the rear chamber separately as the water flows through the bottom too, which is annoying as loads of crap is gonna flow through here?

Hmmm, that does seem a bit large for what's typically a small emergency drain, if there's a lower drain at all.

But it's still possible that there's just too much water in the system. Did you try taking any water out?

Do you have any filter media that might be restricting the water flow?

Are you able to adjust the pump and lower the flow a bit?

That's about all I can think of that may be going on, but again I don't have your specific tank. Maybe someone who does have that tank can post a pic of how they have theirs setup.

I’ve took a tiny bit of water out if I take any more out it won’t go over the top weir part, the pump just adjustable and there’s no media blocking the flow just have black sponge and filter wool currently

Hmmm, I'm not too sure then. Maybe someone who has this exact tank would be a little more helpful? Sorry, those were my best suggestions.

Hi! I purchased the Next Wave 85 and a week or two in and I'm already seeing issues - I have never kept a marine tank, only fresh water but even I see issues with this tank and it was hardly cheap.

Have you figured out how to actually get water to go through the media basket because mine seems to have water sit on top of just flow straight over to where the pump is...so seems kind of pointless? I've watched some debris floating on top and just keep floating .

I currently have it as bare bottom with some macro algae in plastic tubs (waiting for some perspex to arrive to put down before I put little rocks in) and I've noticed the water flow is rubbish because have dirt accumulation in the center or back and even though the skimmer is on and sucks up a little muck I wonder how it would actually cope with fish messing in the tank.

Hi, I really struggled to find any one with these tanks so put me off a little bit I have taken out the media basket and added a Fluval 107 canister in the rear chamber, I also got a 1/2” RFG and pointed nozzle at surface. I have filled the canister with one tray of bio balls and one tray of filter floss and the water seems to be crystal clear no surface crap at all

Haven’t bothered with the skinner, added a Nero 3 currently running around 20/30% for more flow

Thanks, that's super useful info. I did think this morning I'm going to have to get a proper filter and take out the media basket and sort out the flow.

No problem at all, can get some pics when it’s light so you can see
Didn’t understand the rear setup as there’s very little flow through the chambers

Did you get that second short nozzle? I could attach the duckbill nozzle to the tank because it's screw on, but no idea what the second one should do/how it should attach.

I queried with TMC and they send me a hand drawing with an image of the screw thread. Well yes I know how to screw in the first one but my question was how to attach the second. Didn't actually get a response . The second doesn't have a screw attachment and I can't seem to pull the first apart - don't want to break it.

The second one without the screw pushes onto another end, mine was very tight fit. I ended up buying a few different attachments and experimenting on the best outflow

You could try and block that bottom intake temporarily and see if that helps. With water flowing through their it'll be hard to lower the water and have it effectively pass over the weird at the top.

Wouldn’t work great in my own experience, I have the canister intake where the bottom part is so sucks water through the bottom into the canister, I have the water level just above the holes
