My torches demand better po4 control than my other euphyllia (hammers/gonis). I keep them .1 or less and they stay happy

Like anything else, I think stability is the King. I do think that nutrients are a key factor. Mine seem to thrive in the following nutrients:

phosphate - .05 - .10
Nitrate - 5-10ppm

Medium flow & Medium PAR, keep the bases clean with turkey baster every other week!

I agree with the above...I keep low PO4 and 5 NO3, PL7S I add 40ml of AB+ every night....my torches as well as other Euphyllia seem to love it. Also Alk 9.5 and Calcium 440.....steady and stable! :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

what size tank? (curious about how much ab+ people use vs the recommended dosage on bottle)

I actually have the same parameters as @cancun with Alk @ 9.5 & and Calcium @ 445.

I dose 25 ML of AB+ daily and my DT is 131 gallons with a 40 gallon sump

Love torches! just some of my thoughts over last 1.5 yrs collecting em seriously:

Nutrient control as people have said, im finding a lot of success closer to 0.09-0.10 phosphate and 18-20 nitrate. Seem to get better looking flesh bands for me here.

good flow for torches. I find too fast or slow they will either not grow well or at worst die. Personally I think I see em grow best when all tentacles just gently suspended up constantly in all directions with some slight hair flipping once in a while of the tentacles

good light. I find all my torches (mostly indo and no Aussie as I have actually killed 3 of them ugh) like higher light than not altho will tolerate a wide range. I have heard/watched/read from 90 to 350 par. Personally I think higher par will demand higher nutrient level.

I dose multiple types of aminos daily (not all on same day and no ab+), I also target feed the torches very lightly.

Mine seem to do well with plenty of flow and plenty of light.

I do not feed them other than dosing an amino product daily. Acropower and AB+, I rotate them each day.
